Backslashes

You wrote at User talk:66.79.163.133 "There is no need to add slashes before every quotation mark". This is in fact a symptom of a broken open proxy (that IP was in fact blocked a few days ago as an open proxy). Copyright Issue

Hey... I was looking for an admin that was online (and you appear to be one). I don't know if a possible copyright violation actually has to remain on WP:CP for seven days, but Capital Area Food Bank is a clear copyright violation, and I already have created a new article without those problems (located at Talk:Capital Area Food Bank/Temp). Krautrock

Hi, I noticed in its history you've been contributing a lot to the krautrock article. You might want to keep a close eye to it, as some user who doesn't seem to have the faintest idea what it's about now even proposes to just merge it in electronic music. Hi Kaldari, thanks for your note about the above. I don't know whether the copyright issue was ever sorted out completely. I don't entirely trust the version that's on the page. It wasn't written by a regular editor, none of the references have been checked, and it does seem a bit POV. However, to check it all would involve a lot of work. I've been tempted to reduce it back to a stub, but haven't because that would be a lot of material to remove, so I'm not quite sure how to proceed with it. Tennessee Marriage Protection Amendment

I have corrected your addition to the Tennessee Marriage Protection Amendment article. The Rasmussen poll says nothing about whether or not Tennesseans support the amendment. The poll states that 80% of Tennesseans beleive marriage should be limited to a man and a woman (which it already is in Tennessee). That doesn't necessarily mean they support amending the constitution to say that. Please be careful about stating poll results accurately, especially as elections approach. Thanks! John Adams (Army)

I am in the process of adding all the people who have articles in the book cited (Who Was Who in America, Historical Volume, 1607-1896, published 1963), to the lists of residents of the town in which they were born. This fellow has his own entry in the book, indicating his notability. Whether a separate article on him will ever be added is another matter. However, given the huge number of "John Adams"es out there, I differentiated them all on the disambiguation page to prevent confusion. His most notable accomplishement was being a brigadier general in the Confederate Army. I imagine that there are additional sources as well. As stated, however, I will probably not be making the article myself, at least anytime in the near future. I hope that answers your question. Badbilltucker 18:28, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

I have myself been involved in that argument regarding these lists already. As I stated before, the only reason that one was created with a link was to prevent someone from incorrectly linking it to the page of the 2nd President. Earlier today I had to correct one such red-link myself which indicated he also served as a contemporaneous Congressman from New York. The majority of them are simply being put in as names, unless they are already listed as red-links elsewhere, or, like in this case, to prevent confusion. By the way, one of the suggestions made in a recent request for comment I made on such lists was to include all individuals who qualify for articles on these residents lists, whether they already have articles or not. That is the reason I am adding all these names to the lists, including those who don't have pages yet. The specific reason I have for adding to these lists in the first place is that the categories are generally becoming completely unmanagable and probably actually serve as a hindrance to finding someone, not a help, particularly when someone sees some 500 or so names in the category. I thought, and still do think, that having them all listed on a single page, with a minimum of biographical detail of who, what, when, where, and why, might make the categories more useful. So, if the new red-link pages are deleted, that's not really a problem, at least in my eyes. Badbilltucker 19:00, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

Hello. You recently made a change to Template:Cite journal. The template was actually correct as it was, or at least it was consistent with the instructions on its' talk page - the date wikilinks, and obeys date preferences, fine when you put the date in the form 2006-08-31. By removing the brackets, you broke this functionality. Please revert your change. If you want to change the standard way of using the accessdate parameter, please discuss that on the talk page first (and get a bot on standby to convert the existing usage on article pages). Thanks. I am satisfied that the original paragraph was restored. I do not think that it is Wikipedia's place to characterize someone's writings as "virulently antisemitic". It can be stated that Dr. Paul Johnson or William Shirer stated them to be so, but to simply state it as it was stated is POV. No worries. I think we're all frustrated. One of the backdrops to this is that we had a very aggressive editor on the page for a few months who was deeply insulting, and who responded to edits he didn't like by vandalizing user pages and other articles written by the editors he was in conflict with. He was banned eventually, but then we went through a period of him using anon IPs to cause trouble too. It means that people are even more fed up than usual on that page.
