Babylonokia photo
editGood to see a photo here, but do you have Karl Weingärtner's express permission to release it under a CC-licence attribution-commercial licence? (This means that anyone can reuse the photo in any context, even a commercial one, without paying Weingärtner royalties, which he may not be happy with.) --McGeddon (talk) 10:01, 19 January 2017 (UTC)
- Please could you change this for me,that everyone who use this Photo have to quote me as source.

- That's what you've got at the moment; that it's your "own work" and anyone can reuse it with attribution (naming you as the photographer of the image). But did you take the photo, or is it Weingärtner's? --McGeddon (talk) 10:54, 19 January 2017 (UTC)
- I am Karl Weingärtner --kalligrafiemonk

- Thanks for clarifying. Given that the article has a quote rightly complaining about the photo being used "without my knowledge and without my consent" in the press, I'd like to get this 100% verified, just in case there's been any slight breakdown in communication here. Can you visit https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Babylonokia.jpg and follow the instructions to confirm that you, Karl Weingärtner, are happy for anyone in the world to reuse this photo for any purpose (even in newspapers, etc) without paying you anything for the usage? Either send an email, or put something on your official website confirming that you're releasing this photo as CC-Attribution-Commercial. Thanks! --McGeddon (talk) 16:28, 19 January 2017 (UTC)
- I have already taken the photo from my website. --kalligrafiemonk
I raise objections to the deletion of my photo Babylonokia.jpg. My copyright for this photo and my identity is confirmed on this website of the Austrian Post: https://www.post.at/sammelboerse/go/marke_detail/id/ab3777a4002cf809c0a2acea715d9c48 Kalligrafiemonk (talk) 21:52, 16 February 2017 (UTC)kalligrafiemonk
- Not sure what you mean there. We need either an email from Karl Weingärtner confirming the CC licencing, or a message on Karl Weingärtner's website to that effect. Can you provide either of those? --McGeddon (talk) 19:55, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
- I already sent an email confirming the CC licencing January the 19th and 26th 2017 to permission-commons.[Ticket#2017011910015531] [Ticket#2017012610011898]--kalligrafiemonk
- Now I sent following email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org:
I hereby affirm that I Karl Weingärtner the creator and owner of the exclusive copyright of the media work "Babylonokia.jpg" as shown here: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylonokia and en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylonokia and have legal authority in my capacity to release the copyright of that work. I agree to publish the above-mentioned content under the following free license: Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International. I acknowledge that by doing so I grant anyone the right to use the work, even in a commercial product or otherwise, and to modify it according to their needs, provided that they abide by the terms of the license and any other applicable laws. I am aware that this agreement is not limited to Wikipedia or related sites. I am aware that the copyright holder always retains ownership of the copyright as well as the right to be attributed in accordance with the license chosen. Modifications others make to the work will not be claimed to have been made by the copyright holder. I acknowledge that I cannot withdraw this agreement, and that the content may or may not be kept permanently on a Wikimedia project.

Hello again. You should be fine to just re-upload the image to Commons, and fill in the appropriate details (including the fact that you submitted a permission email earlier in the month) when you do so. (The identity concerns are whether you, User:Kalligrafiemonk, are Karl Weingärtner, not whether Karl Weingärtner did or did not create the artwork, and the email you sent should have cleared that up.) --McGeddon (talk) 22:16, 16 February 2017 (UTC)
