On 5 March 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Lake Sonfon, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that with an area of 8.2 km2 (3.2 sq mi), Lake Sonfon is Sierra Leone's largest inland lake? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

On 10 March 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Deepwater rice, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that deepwater rice(pictured) can grow 25 cm (9.8 in) in a day, but only when underwater? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
Wow! the views for your article went from 6 to 5,700 from the main page viewing; however, the Star of Sierra Leone jumped from ~40 edits to over 19,000+ views also. I would call that a successful DYK hook :) Nice work. Kindly CalmerWaters02:20, 31 March 2011 (UTC)
A barnstar for you!

Problems with Wikipedia
Hi, do you remember me? Last Thursday I went in your office in Wikimedia Development House and I learned the precious advices that you gave me to create a good Wikipedia page. Now I have some problems about the update of the page of ChildHope Uk... When do you have spare time Could you take a look please? Thanks.

Good to chat at the meet-up yesterday. I've had a look at your DYK nom for Union Street, but I wonder if we could make the hook something a bit more arresting? I've made an ALT 1 suggestion about how the book was lightened up for the screen, but I think that could probably be improved on too.
BTW, depending what borough you live in, you may find your local public library card offers electronic searchable access to newspapers of the period, for finding 1980s reviews from before Google News. In particular when I was writing up Shoot to Kill (1990 TV drama) I found Westminster had online access to The Times, Sunday Times, Guardian, Observer and Daily Express, and Westminster reference library just round the corner from Leicester Square seemed quite happy to issue me a non-borrowing library card -- if you happen to be drawn to writing up material from this sort of period again.
Sorry not to give an unreserved thumbs-up for the DYK, but I'm sure with another go at the hook we can get it good to go. All best, Jheald (talk) 09:50, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
Thanks to the contributions of our many members and supporters, WP:YORKS has become a leading local British WikiProject in terms of the total number of articles supported (up from 10,390 last month to 10,444 on March 27th). In the area of GAs WP:YORKS at 97 is ahead of WP:GM who have 75. WP:GM has the lead in FAs at 57 out of a total number of 3,208 articles.
Currently we have thirty one Yorkshire featured articles:
The number has been kept deliberately low to give us a fighting chance of improving them to at least GA status, also so we can concentrate our efforts on these first.
Lua
Another change to the software last month sees the introduction of Lua for coding of templates. Those of you who edit templates may come across this with the introduction of the "#invoke" statement. The code is held in the new namespace of Module that was created for this purpose. One of the first places to show the change is the search screen that now has options to search the Module or the associated Module talk namespaces.
The use of Lua is expected to improve the speed of loading of pages with a large number of complex templates. The heavily used complex templates are being targeted for early conversion to use Lua. {{Coord}} and {{cite}} family of templates are among the first to receive attention. If you see any problems when conversion is made then report them to Technical Village Pump or to the talk page of the module involved.

By the time you read this the new Notifications tool will be available for use. You will have a new Notifications tab under Preferences to enable the selection of which type of notification you want on web and which you want e-mailing about. The count of those selected for web delivery will be shown between your user page and talk page links at the top of each page. Just click on this number to see the notifications that are applicable to you. One the resulting page there is also a direct link to the new Notifications tab of your preferences.
The main noticeable change will be the disappearance of the big orange bar at the top when you get a new talk page message, it will now be just a discreet change to the notification count.

Your upload of File:Anglian Tower York.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.
This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks!
