Canadian North Map

edit

Would it be too hard to have all the jagged lines in the map, instead of the curves? I'm willing to wait as long as I need.

Yeah, I got as many jagged lines as I could. --Kamangir1214 (talk) 19:33, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
If you view the section on WP:GL/I I linked to a higher quality SVG with more detail which could be used as a basis. Trying to get the borders / jagged lines from a low quality PNG isn't really going to give you accuracy... hopefully the one I linked to can be colored in and will look better and be close enough to the same style. gren グレン 16:30, 5 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

SVG images

edit

Hey there. I noticed that on some of your image contributions (namely the SVG image) you simply have used (presumably) Inkscape's "trace bitmap" function. Although we appreciate you contributions on Wikipedia, please do not simply use that function when vectorizing images as the end result looks very shoddy. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! --Pbroks13talk? 04:27, 5 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

I want to second that. Trying to help out is great... and, better than I do (I fail completely at SVG and really should learn how to do them properly) but the problem with how you're doing it is it doesn't add any value to the image when it is just a trace like that. For instance on the floor plan of the National Gallery you get curves where there should be straight lines and the text is very difficult to read. Not trying to be mean (because, we really can use people who know how to do SVG work) and hope it helps. Thanks for trying at least :) --gren グレン 16:28, 5 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
