Thanks
Geaugagrrl, thanks for the message of support. Don't worry about grumblings from me and Jongleur. We are just grumpy, though after Jongleur got into a scrap over one of his DYK, he's either left Wikipedia or just taken a sabbatical. FruitMonkey (talk) 08:54, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Many thanks from me, too. It's kind words of encouragement and co-operation from people like you that makes Wikipedia tick. I'm back, hopefully to contribute many more Welsh-related articles.
- And you keep up the good work too! ♦ Jongleur100 ♦ talk 10:14, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Good Sunday to you both. Don't mind if I get cranky either. I like to contribute to the subject of Wales, but it can be frustrating at a 4,681 distance. So I might bother either one of you for help. I want the information on Wales to be as organized as Oswestry. Cheers. ∞☼Geaugagrrl(T)/(C) 12:22, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
Hi. I've reviewed your DYK submission for the article Trawsgoed Crosswood, and made a comment on it at the submissions page. Please feel free to reply or comment there. Cheers, Olaf Davis | Talk 17:46, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the help. This would be my first DYK. ∞☼Geaugagrrl(T)/(C) 22:31, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
Hello Geaugagrrl! I stumbled on your artical on Trawsgoed and have a question about the name. Shouldnt the name of the artical be one of the two names? If the estate is better known as Trawsgoed then that should be how it is listed, yes? In the text of the artical it would list the English version of the name. ♦Drachenfyre♦·Talk 08:55, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hi there. I could not find information on the history of the name of the estate as to exactly when it became Crosswood. Being at nearly a 5,000 mile distance from the area I depend on experts (like you!) to assist. Do you want to move the article or should I? I nearly named it w/o the British version in the first place. Thanks for your help! ∞☼Geaugagrrl(T)/(C) 00:53, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
I also added the Earl of Lisburne in the Welsh peers artical. ♦Drachenfyre♦·Talk 09:04, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah! I was wondering why it wasn't there to begin with :-) Thanks for your help. ∞☼Geaugagrrl(T)/(C) 00:53, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
Scary?
Hi, in case you didn't see my note, as it would seem, I'm intrigued: fire away, here or on my Talk page. Cheers, Enaidmawr (talk) 23:37, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- I fell into the abyss on this talk page. Yikes! I have read it twice (out of morbid curiosity!) and cannot understand why the page has not been reverted to the discussed spelling? Maybe everyone just finally gave up? WP:STICK? If you don't want to talk about it I understand. ∞☼Geaugagrrl(T)/(C) 00:30, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, unfortunately we all eventually fell into "the abyss" as it was like banging our heads against the proverbial brick wall. Seems a long time back now, but it just went on and on until it had reached epic proportions (classic example of a wiki talk page 10x longer than the article!). Personally, I'd love to see it restored to Carnedd Llywelyn. The arguments used against were ridiculous and seemed to amount to "we know best anyway" and little more. At the end of the day the spelling makes no difference whatsoever to the average English-speaker - who will find both forms in use in English sources - but it does make a difference to the Welsh. Were you thinking of reopening this can of worms? Good luck to you if you do! I think I said all I had to say the first time round but you can count on my support. Best wishes, Enaidmawr (talk) 22:52, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
- Your summation was what I came up with after several readings. What is worrisome is that the WP Wales banner has just now been placed (by me) on the talk page. I guess I was drawing a line in the sand to see what happen. It is still there. I am contemplating pursing this. What I find even more worrisome is the seemingly wholesale ownership of the page by a few. Not good. Do you know who is responsible for assessing the project articles? Thanks for your support. Overall I have noticed while editing on WP Wales a cultural schism by those observant of Wales being a different country with it's own uniqueness and those that just don't seem to care or get it. Maybe this is too black and white but there it is. Well I'm stepping off my soap box for the night to go watch the new season of Dancing with the Stars. It is the only TV show left that I actually still watch! Bye for now. ∞☼Geaugagrrl(T)/(C) 02:53, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

Just wanted to say the Ceredigion one looks great. I might try and copy it on the Welsh Wicipedia. --Rhyswynne (talk) 07:52, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

- Thanks :-) If you look on the discussion page you can see how the template idea came about. Let me know if I can help. It should be easy to copy. I use Notepad for nearly everything to save backup copies. I mean to make one for each of the principal areas. Should it say, Principal Area of Wales, COUNTY Ceredigion? As some areas are cities and boroughs it might be good to add? I need to surf over so Welsh Wicipedia. It will help me learn the language faster. Bye for now. ∞☼Geaugagrrl(T)/(C) 13:25, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- I have added the rest of the towns and villages. Let me know if I missed anything or errors. So on to the next principal area. ∞☼Geaugagrrl(T)/(C) 03:47, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Coat of arms image removal. Please make it stop.
{{helpme}}
Numerous bots have deleted the image at Template:Ceredigion. I have reverted each time. The same type of image is used on this template with success: Template:Cheshire, Borough of Vale Royal. What needs to be done to stop the image removal? ∞☼Geaugagrrl(T)/(C) 03:59, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
- The bots are deleting the image because it's fair use. Since a template can be used anywhere, it is not allowed per WP:NFCC to use non-free images in them. Fair use images can only be used, non-transcluded, in articles, and fair use images must contain a valid rationale as to why we are allowed to use the image in each article they appear in. I've removed the image again myself, and ask that you please not add it back in. Hersfold (t/a/c) 04:06, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
- Aaahhh, my favorite rule! I really do think in this case since the template is SO SPECIFIC that the image should be allowed. I mean you certainly couldn't use it on Seattle *big grins* ∞☼Geaugagrrl(T)/(C) 13:33, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
Wales category
Hello again, Geaugagrrl. Some of your recent edits came up on my watchlist and I noticed you have been putting various articles in Category:Wales. This is not normal wikipedia practice (for Wales or any other country or major category) when those articles do not relate directly to Wales as an entity. Articles on individuals, for instance, should be be categoried in a particular field relating to Wales/the Welsh, e.g. "Welsh poets", "Medieval Wales", etc. (assuming they are not already there). I appreciate that you are trying to help but in this case it is only creating more work as the edits need to be undone. Cofion/Regards, Enaidmawr (talk) 21:14, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hello again Enaidmawr and thanks for writing. There is where I took direction from:
Welcome to the Wales WikiProject. We are a group dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of articles related to Wales.
Goals
The goal of this WikiProject is to provide complete coverage on subjects related to Wales, by creating, expanding, and maintaining articles on people, places, and things resident or native to Wales.
Scope
This project proposes to work with all pages related to Wales, its history, geography, and people. These should all be included in the Category:Wales or one of its subcategories.
- May I please know the exact edits you reference that should no include Category:Wales? Is there a list available of all categories related to Wales? Bye for now. ∞☼Geaugagrrl(T)/(C) 04:38, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- I'll reply on Enaidmawr's behalf, because I agree with him and I was going to mention it too. Basically, none of the articles that you have put into Category:Wales should be there, because they are better covered by their other Welsh sub-categories sub-categories. Rhodri ap Gruffudd is part of Category:Welsh royalty, which is part of Category:Welsh people (and other Wales-related categories), which is part of Category:Wales. Powys Fadog is part of Category:Kingdoms of Wales, which is part of Category:Geography of Wales (amongst other Wales-related categories) which is part of Category:Wales. Therefore, neither should be in Category:Wales as well. The relevant guideline is Wikipedia:Categorization and subcategories. For an expandable category tree of all sub-categories of Category:Wales, see here. Regards, BencherliteTalk 07:14, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation and sorry for the trouble the category additions have caused. Oooh, love the category tree. Thanks. I haven't seen a tar.gz file in ages! ∞☼Geaugagrrl(T)/(C) 10:43, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- Glad you understand and thanks to Bencherlite for explaining in more detail on my behalf as well. (By the way, a small typo by Bencherlite resulted in this talk page being put in Category:Wales as well, but I've amended it!). I've undone some of the edits but maybe you could do a few yourself? By the way, the same logic applies to smaller categories - a village in Ceredigion should be in Category:Villages in Ceredigion for instance, and shouldn't be in the main Ceredigion category as well. Cofion, Enaidmawr (talk) 20:51, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- I did notice the cat.Wales in this page. I thought it was a bit of humorous retribution *g*. I will do my best to undo the cataclysmic, categorical over-categorization. </cat> ∞☼Geaugagrrl(T)/(C) 02:43, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- Ooops... thanks to both of you! BencherliteTalk 08:21, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- Well I think with the help of several kind folks my cat.Wales debacle has been undone. Many thanks and another lesson learned by this silly person. On to better things I say. But in case you're in need of just a bit more cat., you can listen to this great song. Cheers. ∞☼Geaugagrrl(T)/(C) 03:13, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
New article
Hi there! I was wondering...how would I go about writing an article about Month of the Cold Moon, a song written about January, 1839, when the US used the Cherokee people to defend themselves against European presence in the US. It was a tragic event, that in the end resulted in the entire Cherokee population being forced of their land by the Indian Removal act of 1830. After the event, 4000 Cherokee died, which was 1/5th of their population. Or do you think that would be a stupid article?
Tomdiepstrap the all mighty intellect (talk) 05:23, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hi. I believe it would be notable if included in this article or added as a sub page. Along with reliable sources and citing of course. I would be happy to review a preview of a sandbox article if you'd like. ∞☼Geaugagrrl(T)/(C) 00:58, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Wow! How on earth did you find that article? The only way I can see is if your some kind of magician! I guess I should add it to there! Tomdiepstrap the all mighty intellect (talk) 02:22, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- Wikipedia does seem like magic doesn't it? I will do my best to help make it easier. I simply wiki-searched for Indian Removal Act and read through til I found the section on the Cherokee nation. So have you decided if you will include your song in the main article or make it a sub page? ∞☼Geaugagrrl(T)/(C) 02:47, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Well... A lot of music pieces I looked up have no page, so I suppose this one should not be any different. I think I'll just add it to the article you showed me. Tomdiepstrap the all mighty intellect (talk) 19:19, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

I'm a middle school teacher in San Antonio, Texas. (I'm one of the only teachers at my school who support wikipedia, but I'm also the computer teacher.) So far, I'm just here to add our school into the wikipedia database.
I'm going to do what i can this morning & might need a little help later after I go thru the newbie tutorials. (I'm looking for a way to change the title so its capitalized correctly) Thanks & Happy Saturday!

Move log: A5 road (Great Britain) to A5 road (United Kingdom)
This looks like it was a completely knee jerk move. Did you read the article first? There are two A5 roads in the UK, one is in Great Britain and the other is in Northern Ireland. The original disambig title was correct. Please undo the move. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 17:14, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Geaugagrrl,
- While I think the above message is unnecessarily brusque it is technically correct. Northern Ireland (which is in the :United Kingdom but not in Great Britain) has its own road system. The A5 there is totally separate from the London to Holyhead A5 road. So there are two A5s in the United Kingdom, but only one in GB.
- Don't worry, there are plenty of people living this side of the pond who couldn't tell you the difference between Great Britain, the United Kingdom, and the British Isles. Just as I've given up trying to explain to Americans why Wales isn't 'in England!' Cheers, ♦ Jongleur100 ♦ talk 11:35, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
