Userpage biographical claim

edit

Karhunkynsi244, could you please remove the "spouse" item from your userpage's infobox? It is making a biographical claim about a living person that is not supported by a reference. It is not hidden or not-encyclopediac-claim just because it's in userpage. Looking at that target page and then tracking back what links to it, one can easily arrive at your page and find it. Thank you. DMacks (talk) 04:24, 9 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Braun Strowman and Nicholas.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Braun Strowman and Nicholas.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The image can easily be replaced with a simple image of Braun Strowman for now. A non-free image is not absolutely needed in this situation. — Moe Epsilon 05:14, 9 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Your userpage

edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your user subpage at User:Karhunkynsi244 may not meet Wikipedia's user page guideline because a user page is not intended to be either a free web host per WP:U5 or be something which might resemble an article per WP:FAKEARTICLE. If you believe that your user page does not violate our guideline, please leave a note on this page. Alternatively, you may add {{Db-u1}} to the top of the page in question and an administrator will delete it, or you can simply edit the page so that it meets Wikipedia's user page guideline. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:26, 9 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Arslan Ash

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Arslan Ash, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Speedy deletion nomination of Ranger tab

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Ranger tab for deletion, because it's a redirect from an article title to a namespace that's not for articles.

If you don't want Ranger tab to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Articles for review; User name

edit

I have looked at the two articles that you have put up for review. They need improvements, which I sometimes add to a user talk page rather than give the article a low rating. As a general rule: from Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Assessment/B-Class FAQ: "As a rule of thumb, the absolute minimum is that all paragraphs should at least end with a citation and all direct quotes should be attributed to a source."

In Ranger Tab, the paragraph ending in "in 1954 the Army required all combat arms officers to become Ranger qualified" needs a citation. You may have intended the previous citation to include this but we have dealt with this recently. The bot will judge this to be a separate paragraph. It also appears to be separate with additional information. If the previous citation completely covers the facts in the paragraph, it needs to be repeated. Cited information in the next paragraph appears to contradict a contradict a sentence in the lead starting with "It is considered an unwritten rule in the Infantry Branch that a Ranger Tab is required to achieve full career success,..." That sentence appears to be speculative, as well contradictory, and would need a reliable, verifiable citation - even though in the lead - to remain in the article.

Citations are needed for two short paragraphs in the history section. More than one source is needed if the information comes from different sources. The first paragraph in the Students section needs a citation. The paragraph with a list starting "On the first day of attendance at the course" needs a citation at the end of the introduction or the three-part list. I suggest combining "This phase lasts for 15 days" with the next paragraph. This information also needs a citation. Similarly, the opening paragrah and list in "Additional Training Requirements." I need to get advice from more experienced coordinators on the effect of the banner about sources on meeting b1 criteria. I have not dealt with a request for assessment with a banner before and I have not found anything in references. I suspect that the effect would be that the article could not be assessed higher than C-class.

I am not an administrator but I strongly suggest you drop that stylized user name in the previous section, change it there and not use it or anything similar again. (I am a reviewer, rollbacker and military history project coordinator.) That type of thing can get you blocked and, at a minimum, can be offensive and damage your reputation in Wikipedia and the project. Donner60 (talk) 03:39, 20 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

i got rid of the username earlier today, i made it years ago before i got serious into wikipedia.
I will update these and add them back for assessment. Karhunkynsi244 (talk) 05:05, 20 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
The user name still appears in the above section, piped in from your regular user name. I will keep an eye out for the update. Donner60 (talk) 11:52, 20 January 2024 (UTC) Note the signature in the Speedy deletion nomination of Ranger tab section above.Reply
Ranger Tab now rated B class, I am striking through listing on assessment page. For B class: Sapper Leader Course still needs citations for 1. short paragraph starting "In 1986, the Sapper Leader Course", 2. for the first paragraph in the Students section, for "All other personnel..." even if it is a repeat of the previous citation (bot would require that on an auto assessment), 3. for the sentence starting "Following this, students and 4. for the list starting the General Subjects section. I have pinged the other coordinators about whether the "excessive primary sources" template has any effect on an assessment, especially when the citations in an article are from a US Army publication which is verifiable and a credible source for the topic (presumably as long as the citations support facts and not original interpretations). Donner60 (talk) 09:44, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
LETS GOOO thank you for the b rating, ill keep going on the sapper leader course and find more secondary sources that are verifiable in case Karhunkynsi244 (talk) 15:38, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I have been advised that the US Army sources are good and the template is no problem as long as there are no original interpretations, just facts, from this reliable and verifiable source. So the more important thing is to add citations in the four places indicated in my previous note to get the article to B class. Donner60 (talk) 23:53, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Sapper Leader Course

I am removing the assessment request mainly because of the passage of time to near the end of the month. Please just relist it when you have made the changes noted in the previous section above and wish to have it reassessed. Donner60 (talk) 02:29, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
