Unique

First of all, thank you for logging in. You have done not only me, but also the Wikipedia community - and yourself, you'll see! - a big favor. Please make sure you stay logged in every time you edit! Thanks!

Perhaps it boils down to the definition of "unique". I am not a native English speaker, but my perception of the meaning of this word as "exceptional" rather than "the only one" when used like that. I don't think the word implies there is nothing like that, but perhaps you can find a better word.

Oh, I re-wrote the article some two years ago, and at that time I didn't put a reference by that sentence, and I also believe the press release in question asserts the car has a transverse-mounted straight six, I would not use it as a reference to its "uniqueness". As a matter of fact, I was thinking of another of the sources as a reference for that (I didn't go inline back then). Anyhoo, in a very OR style, I just put down what I knew, as my understanding is that an article on a car model in Wikipedia is not a specs sheet (there are better sources for those) but rather an explanation why this or another model is notable among others (assuming all car models are notable enough to have their entries, which is an implicit assumption widely accepted @ Wikipedia).

Thank you for replying and for the absolutely undeserved complement (I actual wish I was as nice as other Wikipedians). I will not defend unique to death, though unusual or notable do not seem "strong enough" for me. Feel free to reword as you please, yet I would appreciate it if you could think of another word closer in its meaning to what I meant with unique. To be honest, uncommon is as insipid as it gets to me... I used "unique" to emphasize the car is remarkable for that, this is why a reader should know about it. On realizing that, I though remarkable might have been the word I was looking for in the first place. How do you feel about it? PrinceGloria (talk) 09:41, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
