I decline your invitation/proposal because it is problematic
editKarnifro,
First of all I want to request you to contact me at my talk page instead of sending me an e-mail using the toolbox if you will be discussing Wikipedia matters. It is not a good practice to secretively send e-mails. I ask you to fully disclosure the e-mail you sent me because I can't assist you if you don't do that. Ok so answering your questions:
- Yes, I have seen a kinda racist attitude from both sides. White supremacists try to deny the fact that a percentage of Mexico is indigenous, and Indigenous Rights Movement members try to inflate native Mexicans figures.
- No, I don't consider that the INEGI figure is "inflated" (they say 9.8% of the people is of native origin). They are very professional, after all they are the national census agency of Mexico.
- I found a lot of problems with the text you sent me. They don't seem to qualify as a reliable source. Do they have a website? I also believe that their 2.1% count of natives is very low, suspiciously low. Native Mexicans have been counted to be around 7%-9% of the population. I also believe their definition of "Pure Amerindian" is a covered racist term.
- And lastly, yes I have read studies about the exponential growing of white population in Mexico. This phenomena is in part due to the fact that intermarriage is much less common in Mexico than it was at the beggining of the 20th century, BUT per WP:CRYSTAL we can't include a table showing the future distribution of the ethnicities. I also think this is kinda racist.
Finally I only want to say I'm sorry if I gave you a wrong idea. I never asked for your support or endorsement at Global city, but for your help to solve a problem as a mediator because months ago you proved to have a very neutral view when we all were discussing the article North America. The message I left in your talk page was very clear about it [1]. I can't endorse your view if I honestly don't think it is right, even if you "helped me". Your e-mail sounded like you were asking me to "repay" the "favor" and I don't like that and the secretive tone of it. I can instead assist you to balance the text you want to edit and help you find other sources.
I must add something else because it is bothering me. I'm very confused and sorry if your review of my past edits at Mexico and other Mexico-related articles gave you the impression I was a "pro-white". That's racist and I don't like that. In fact, I don't believe in the existence of human races except as a social construct. I even have a userbox about it since many years ago.
Sincerely AlexCovarrubias ( Talk? ) 08:01, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
- whoa that was harsh.... I didn't do anything wrong I just asked for your help but thanks for your input... and no I'm not a racist either I only happen to believe that the Mexican census bureau rises the figure of indigenous people because of political pressure.... 9% of the population??? sounds too many people. Have you been to Baja California, Chihuahua or Coahuila?? Almost no indigenous people there and I am sure that the same pattern repeats in Monterrey. Why you don't believe my source is reliable? ok have a nice day... KarniFro( Talk to me) 20:11, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
- I can't and won't comment anymore if you don't first paste here the text of the e-mail you sent me asking for "my help". AlexCovarrubias ( Talk? ) 01:17, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
- I'm sorry if it took me too long to answer dude but I'm on a vacation. Ok ok I now see it was wrong to send you an e-mail asking for your help..... next time I'll just leave you a note on your talk page I got it ok?? Thanks anyway..... KarniFro( Talk to me) 21:24, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
