Protection for the D2X-XL chapter has been requested due to a small group of people continually vandalizing the D2X-XL or trying to damage it by adding an advert warning, probably related to the short list of features given in the second paragraph of the D2X-XL area. As these features are what distinguish D2X-XL from all other Descent 2 versions, imo they are rightfully listed and do not have the character of an advertisement.

editHello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. Rjd0060 (talk) 17:19, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

RE:D2X-XL
editI'm afraid I can't protect, as there hasn't been enough recent disruption to warranty protection (see the protection policy for details). Also, the section you are discussing does not seem to assert notability, and as such may be removed... of course, you could add reliable sources and fix the situation. - The problem with fictional objects, or real-world creations that deal with fiction (for example, Descent), is that they're usually hard to keep alive without sourcing. The reason is that there are not very many sources to provide proof of the creation's notability, and so it is not verifiable and therefore shouldn't stay. Now, I don't doubt the importance of the mod; I myself play Freelancer, which has a similarly hardcore group of players who stick to it and create mods for it, and I know that there are a few that have revolutionized the game. However, I can't insert these mods into the article, as I have to prove why they're notable first. It's a very tricky web of policies to navigate, I know.
- Now, you shouldn't be getting reverted without comment, but if you can't source your additions then unfortunately they shouldn't stay. Also, those sites are sources, yes; primary sources. However, an article can't just rely on primaries; it has to have secondary and tertiary sources as well (you'll find those in the link I provided above).
