Hello KassF, this is DBar22 from HMB436 saying hello!

Hi KassF, I'm a classmate of yours in HMB436, good luck with the assignment! Avocadosarecool (talk) 17:58, 26 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Assignment 2

This was one of two species implicated in the recent outbreak of fungal meningitis related to contaminated methylprednisone injections (see: http://www.cdc.gov/fungal/diseases/other/exserohilum.html; http://www.cdc.gov/hai/outbreaks/meningitis.html). There should also be some helpful habitat information in the Compendium of Soil Fungi and The Atlas of Clinical Fungi. I'd prefer you to use the referencing procedure I outlined on the course wiki page rather than in-line referencing. This approach makes the source much clearer for editing and it also makes it easier to avoid duplication when shifting references around in the body of the article. Kass, if you like I can make a couple of modifications to your sandbox to show you what I mean. Medmyco (talk) 15:46, 24 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

-That would be great. Thanks KassF (talk) 17:48, 24 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi KassF, your paragraphs on Setosphaeria rostrata are extremely descriptive and well written. However format for Wikipedia sentences involves putting the period before the citation. Also the fungi name should be italicized and not bolded (which can be done by putting two apostrophes in front and at the end of the fungi name). Best of luck! Hello KassF, good job so far on your wiki article! I think it would be interesting to talk more in depth about the effects of this fungus on it's plant hosts - what kind of relationship does it have with it's hosts? You mentioned as one of your facts that it affects annual rye grass and Japanese stilt grass, are these species agriculturally significant to us?

Hi KassF, great job so far! I do notice a typo earlier you wrote the conidia is, you might mean the condia are? It also seems that you haven't consistently italicized the name of the fungus. One more thing, under the Clinical diagnosis and Treatment you haven't mentioned any diagnoses yet, I guess you might still be doing your research on that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by JuhieAhmed (talkcontribs) 03:52, 31 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hey KassF, great work on your article so far!! The suggestions I have for you are as follows:

  1. I would suggest removing the first heading "general description" and just leaving that initial paragraph as a blurb of your fungus.
  2. I was a little confused by the first sentence in your general description. Is Setosphaeria rostrata the teleomorph form and Exserophilum rostrum the anamorphic form? (that's why they have different names). Or are the two synonyms for the teleomorph form?
  3. I would suggest adding a taxtbox for class, genus, synonyms etc. (you can do this by copying and pasting from somebody's sandbox)
  4. I would review your article and make sure you italicize every time you mention the genus and species. There are also some unnecessary capitalization (ex: the word "teleomorph" in the first paragraph and "characterized" in the second paragraph)

Apart from these minor details, I think your paragraph is very descriptive and well communicated. Good luck with the remainder of your article! Elyriz (talk) 04:09, 31 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
