I can't find the article I recently submitted called Doyle Beatenbough. It needs some polishing on format (headline,indents, citations). No content changes though. I'm having trouble figuring out how to achieve these last steps and finding the article on Wikipedia. Katemunroedaly (talk) 23:11, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Kate. At the very top of this page is a link for "My contributions". If you click on that you will be able to see all the pages you have edited and would immediately find you created the page it at your user page here (it would have been better to create it at a subpage, and even better using the article wizard). Note that right now it is not an article but only a proposed article since it is in your userspace rather than in the main space where articles reside. I'll take a look at the content in a moment.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 23:27, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- Okay, I have moved the page to User:Katemunroedaly/Doyle Beatenbough--a better place for you to work on it. Note that when it is ready to go live, it would not be all capitalized as you have it right now on the first section header, but take normal proper noun capitalization as I've used in the subpage name. One problem with the content as it stands is that it has no inline citations, which are required generally for article on living persons, and must be given at the end of every quote, without fail. Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners is a good place to start in learning how to do this. It has some tone and formatting problems. I'll go make some tweaks. I will leave this request open for other to help out with the article, if they see fit, but only you know which content comes from what sources and which quotes come from which source, so only you can do the citations.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 23:41, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- I take back the end of my post. I see you attempted to make "homemade citations" and so I can follow where you attempted to place them and can put them in for you. Working on that now.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 23:44, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

A few of observations about this proposed article;
- The lead paragraph should concentrate on summarising the most notable aspects of the subject. What was his job? What companies? What did he do that makes him notable?
- "leaving his own imprint on the trucking industry in America." - This is what's called a peacock phrase. It tells the reader nothing factual, just an opinion designed to talk up the subject. What did he actually do?
- "who has survived many mergers and consolidations" - This a bit melodramatic. Was his life really in any danger? How does this make him notable?
- "Armed with a high school degree" - not neutral, he had a high school degree, that's all.
- "Beatenbough left home at the age of 16 to look for a job in Atlanta, Georgia." - Good background info, but doesn't belong in the lead.
- "Both moves were considered innovative yet controversial at a time" - This is a weasel phrase. Whose opinions are these? Who is doing the considering?
Hope this helps. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 22:42, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
