MIO role in PAL activity

Thanks for working on the MIO aspect of this enzyme! On the Phenylalanine ammonia-lyase article, you wrote, "MIO is a more electrophilic version of dehydroalanine that was previously thought to serve as cofactor in PAL and HAL." I'm confused by "previously". Do you mean that MIO is no longer thought to serve as cofactor (instead having some other technical role, or no role at all)? Or that dehydroalanine was thought th serve as cofactor until it was discovered that it is actually MIO instead? DMacks (talk) 15:13, 20 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

I don't know where to answer so I'll write here.
