NISHIGANJ NISHIMAYEE HIGH SCHOOL

এই শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান তৈরির পথ খুব একটা মসৃণ ছিল না। কোচবিহারের রাজমাতা নিশিময়ী দেবীর নামে এই স্কুলের নামকরণ হয় নিশিগঞ্জ নিশিময়ী। আধুনিক কোচবিহারের মহারাজানৃপেন্দ্র নারায়ন এর মাতা নিশিময়ী দেবীর পৈতৃক ভিটার পাশেই ১৯৬২ সাল নাগাদ স্থাপিত শিক্ষানুরাগী কিছু মানুষের উদ্যোগে তৈরি হয় এই শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান। ১০৬৭ সালে যা সরকারি স্বীকৃতি লাভ করে। নিশিময়ী দেবীর গর্ভে যেমন জন্মগ্রহণ করেছেন আধুনিক কোচবিহারের রূপকার মহারাজ নিপেন্দ্র নারায়ণ। তেমনি নিশিময়ী নামাঙ্কিত এই স্কুলের মুখ উজ্জ্বল করেছে অনেক কৃতি ছাত্র-ছাত্রী।কেউ জমি ,কেউ টাকা ,কেউ পরিশ্রম দিয়ে গড়ে তুলেছে এই একচালা স্কুলটি। তাদের অনেকেরই শিক্ষাগত যোগ্যতা অপেক্ষাকৃত অর্থে ছিল খুবই কম।শিক্ষা দরদি স্কুলের সেই প্রতিষ্ঠাতা সদস্যরা হলেন পসর উদ্দিন মিয়া, হরো চন্দ্র অধিকারী, নিতাই চন্দ্র মালাকার, সতীশ অধিকারী, রমেন্দ্র হরি কর্জী, প্রাননাথ দেবনাথ , কৃষ্ণচন্দ্র মজুমদার, কেশব চন্দ্র সিংহ প্রমূখ।যদিও এখন আর তারা কেউ বেঁচে নেই । কিন্তু একচালা স্কুল ঘর আজ তিন তলা ভবনে পরিণত হয়েছে।

এই স্কুল প্রতিষ্ঠা করতে গিয়ে তৎকালীন সময় চুরির দায়ে জেল খেটেছেন স্কুলের এক প্রতিস্টা সদস্য কেশব চন্দ্র সিংহ । তিনি নিশিগঞ্জ গ্রাম পঞ্চায়েতের প্রধান ছিলেন। স্কুল প্রতিষ্ঠা করতে ৫ হাজার টাকা রিজার্ভ ফান্ডে জমা রাখতে হয় । দেড় হাজার টাকা জোগাড় না হওয়ায় তৎকালীন প্রধান কেশব বাবু গ্রাম পঞ্চায়েতের থেকে গোপনে দেড় হাজার টাকা তুলে জমা দিয়েছিলেন স্কুলের রিজার্ভ ফান্ডের জন্য। ভেবেছিলেন টাকা জোগাড় হলে তা আবার গ্রাম পঞ্চায়েত ফান্ডে জমা করে দেবেন। কিন্তু এই খবর পৌঁছায় প্রশাসনের কানে। অনৈতিক কাজের দেয় পুলিশ ধরে নিয়ে যায় কেশব বাবুকে । যদিও ম্যাজিস্ট্রেট সবকিছু শুনে বেকসুর মুক্তি দেন কেশব বাবুকে।।

স্কুলের প্রথম প্রধান শিক্ষক ছিলেন রঞ্জিত চক্রবর্তী । 2002 সালে তার অবসরের পর 2006 সালে স্থায়ী প্রধান শিক্ষক নিয়জিত হয়।
