File source problem with File:Saoirse Ronan At TIFF for Violet & Daisy Fall 2011 cropped.jpg
editThank you for uploading File:Saoirse Ronan At TIFF for Violet & Daisy Fall 2011 cropped.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. ☼ 13:28, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
- Hello again, thanks for updating the image description with the source information. Unfortunately, the source on Flickr [1] is marked as "all rights reserved", so I'm afraid I'll have to delete the image as a copyright violation. When you upload things from Flickr, please always check what it says near the bottom right corner; it has to be one of the free licenses we accept on Wikipedia (usually either cc-by-sa or cc-by). Thanks, – Fut.Perf. ☼ 13:55, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
- So, did you just re-upload the same image on a new Flickr account, [2] claiming it as your own work, in order to have a pretext for then re-uploading it here under a fake free license? Oh man. What you are doing is not merely breaking Wikipedia rules, it is actually illegal, and breaking Flickr's rules too. I have blocked your account here. You can be unblocked when you have removed that stolen photo from your Flickr account. Don't try this again. Fut.Perf. ☼ 15:40, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
The Flickr account is mine. I can prove that. Seriously, I'm having a hard time on uploading the image and do some derivative work.
- I know the Flickr account is yours. But the photo isn't. It's from here. Fut.Perf. ☼ 17:44, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
Alright, alright. How can I be unblocked here. I'm really having a trouble on uploading photo.
- As I already told you: as a sign of good will, you first need to remove that photo from your Flickr account, so you don't continue to lead other people into legal jeopardy (people might rely on you and think the image is free, and then the real image copyright holder could sue them for damages!). Then, you need to understand that you simply cannot upload this image here. It's not a matter of having trouble with how to do it; it's a matter of accepting that other people's images are simply off limits. Fut.Perf. ☼ 17:49, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
Okay. Done.
- Okay, thanks. Have you understood now why you can't use this photograph here? Fut.Perf. ☼ 18:08, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
Oh well, yeah. I'm not going to upload any more photos. I'm just going to contribute to the profiles here.
- Okay, I have unblocked you. If you ever want to work with images again, please make sure you read and understand our rules before you upload anything.
- Another thing: when you post on talkpages, like here, please remember to sign all your posts with four tilde characters (~~~~) after your posting. It will produce an automatic signature, like mine here: – Fut.Perf. ☼ 18:58, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
I'll keep that in mind. Kdvinluan (talk) 09:09, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
