editPlease do not add advertising or inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 11:41, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- Hi, can you please restore my links to how they were. I don't see that I'm breaking any rules, considering that both articles already feature links to products and companies (such as the short film adaptation of The Raven). Both of my links - that you have removed - are very much related examples to the subject of the two articles. They are not ads, but user submitted content to the article. Please restore them, or reason your actions - thank you. Kenoiyan (talk) 15:36, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- It's commercial linkspam-Wikipedia is not a place to advertise your product. Those sites that are linked to a product for sale are removed. Those sites that link to reviews and reliable sources are not.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 16:38, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- First of all, it's not "my product". Can you explain to me how "Official site of the 2003 short film version by Trilobite Pictures" constitutes as a reliable source? You can't just exclude everything that involves money. The Raven by vNovel Interactive happens to be a great resource for studying the poem. I happen to know this from first-hand experience, as a reader. I still don't agree with your censorship. Please clarify your point of view. Kenoiyan (talk) 16:52, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- I don't need to play catch ball with you, and I don't need to answer your slinging of "censorship"-go to the site as I did, you will see loudly emblazoned repeatedly "available at the AppStore", which will then lead you to a paysite. It's spam, and if you add it again, I will report you. Have a read at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Spam#Inclusion_of_one_spam_link_is_not_a_reason_to_include_another . I have twice explained myself, now you have the relevant policy. Good bye.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 17:13, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- That was a rather rude retort for a civilised community such as Wikipedia. I take it that you will be removing all the spam links from the article then - including the Trilobite Pictures movie link (they have a "buy now" link on their website too)? Why have you only removed my link?
- It's spam, period. Please stop adding these links or you will be blocked. Dreadstar ☥ 17:21, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- On what basis? That I tried to be civilised about my addition to Wikipedia, and was abused by a more experienced user? What have I done to deserve a ban? Kenoiyan (talk) 17:26, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for being Civil. I suggest you work with a Mentor at Wikipedia:ER, Wikipedia:Editor_assistance stemming from: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user, and read our content policies and guidelines: WP:RS, WP:V, WP:NOR, WP:NPOV,WP:NOT, etc. Dreadstar ☥ 18:01, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for responding! And thank you for the suggestion. I understand that my addition to the article was not up to guidelines, but I don't understand why I've been discriminated, when Kintetsubuffalo removed only my addition, and left all other (identical type) links present in the article. I also wish to make an official complaint to the administrators/moderators of Wikipedia of the harassment I've had to suffer under Kintetsubuffalo's treatment. I know he/she is an experienced user, but he/she has no right to attack a newcomer to Wikipedia so offensively. Does Wikipedia have a personal abuse/harassment form, for users to fill out, when victimised by other users? Can Kintetsubuffalo receive an official warning? He/she certainly deserves one, I think... Kenoiyan (talk) 18:22, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- It does not look like you were discriminated against, read through WP:OTHERSPAMEXISTS. I don't see harassment or attacks against you, there are some stern comments but I don't seee anything that rises to the level of WP:WQA or WP:NPA, and you might want to review WP:BITE. I'd recommend that you move forward and don't pursue the past, unless there are comments I haven't seen - if there are, provide DIFFS and I'll review them. Dreadstar ☥ 19:33, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- Okay, I'll let it go this time, but Kintetsubuffalo, please know that your responses were very harsh, and offending, and I don't recommend you continue to "contribute" to Wikipedia like this in the future, or you may experience some unpleasantness with other users. For the record, the treatment felt a lot like wikihounding, and harassment, and harsh threats were fired willingly, without the need to behave like that ("I will report you!", "desist!"), because I haven't been unreasonable, haven't been spamming the article, and haven't attacked the user in any way. There was no reason to attack me like this - especially considering my short experience as a new user on Wikipedia... Kenoiyan (talk) 22:15, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

- First, saying "you may experience some unwanted legal issues" may be taken as a legal threat by editors. You can be blocked from editing for making legal threats, so please, retract the statement you made about "unwanted legal issues."
- I see no harassment or incivility towards you here. I think you don't understand how Wikipedia works. There is nothing wrong with not understanding. However, although Wikipedia is openly and freely edited, edits must be made with some heed towards the policies of this website. You have run into some bumps here mostly because you don't seem to understand the policies, so your edits have stood out to some editors as being worrisome. Gwen Gale (talk) 13:50, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- I'm in full agreement with Gwen here; and critically, you really need to retract your comment about someone experiencing "unwanted legal issues", as it violates our policy Wikipedia:No legal threats. You'll be blocked otherwise. Dreadstar ☥ 16:21, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- My apologies, I wasn't aware of this policy. I was only trying to alert Kintetsubuffalo of possible dangers he may face in the future. For the record, what he did DOES constitute as user harassment ("...to frighten them, or to discourage them from editing entirely"). Aren't there any policies that specify the use of "banning" threats amongst non-admin users? I feel that Kintetsubuffalo got away with something here, that should have clearly violated his user agreement. I don't think Wikipedia is a place to gang up on, oppress, and threaten newcomers. Also for the record, usually I am a very peaceful and non-temperamental user. Kintetsubuffalo has clearly placed me in a very difficult situation here, and I am feeling very oppressed by this... - Perhaps we have a different meaning for the phrase " I'll let it go this time", because I see nothing being let go; instead I see you continuing to threaten and attack another editor. I strongly suggest you drop it. Dreadstar ☥ 00:07, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

- I see that I am getting nowhere with this. Case dropped. I hope that a decent administrator reviews this conversation one day, and sees the biased and aggressive treatment I've been subjected to here. My initial civil and proper behaviour had nothing to do with causing this trouble - I sought understanding, and a solution to this conflict. I've presented some clear evidence of hostile behaviour and break of rules and conduct on Kintetsubuffalo's behalf - whether it is approved by Dreadstar, or not. In conclusion, Wikipedia is not a safe resource for editing at the moment, due to bias and hostility from its editors and admins... Kenoiyan (talk) 00:36, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
