Nomination of Andy Warstar & the Warstars for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Andy Warstar & the Warstars is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

I am replying to your email where you wrote, "I was wondering what was needed to keep the Warstars article up? I'm just trying to post what someone else wants me to and I've never posted anything on Wikipedia before so it gets confusing being the middleman."

There are some sites (like Facebook, for example) that allow any subject to have a page. Wikipedia is not like that: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. As such it has articles only about subjects that are "notable" There are many bands that try to use Wikipedia for publicity. As a result we have created a guideline of notability criteria for bands; so that both article writers and people considering whether to keep them will know what our standards are.

That guideline is Wikipedia:Notability (music)#Criteria for musicians and ensembles. Please read the guideline and ask yourself honestly if Andy Warstar & the Warstars meets any of the twelve criteria in the guideline. If they don't meet any of the criteria (yet), then the only hope is for them somehow to meet one of them in the future. If you think they do fulfil one of the criteria, then emphasize the achievement(s) that qualify them for an article and remove the details about their lack of success. If for example they won a Grammy, say so in the first paragraph and provide a reference to an independent reliable source that verifies the win. Then go to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Andy Warstar & the Warstars and argue how the article meets the guideline.

I am a little concerned, however, when you say someone else wants you to post the article. Are you being paid to write it? Although that is not strictly forbidden, many people frown on it because it gives the writer a conflict of interest that makes it almost impossible for them to write an acceptable article.
