Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited P. Kalimuthu, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ampang. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

On Garuda Purana

I am surprised at your reversion of my edit to the article on Garuda Purana and the comment "Editor does not know the correct terms used in the mentioned paragraphs therefore altered and replaced them with misleading terms" there. The article is about the Sanskrit text Garuda Purana and it is obvious that the terms I corrected were introduced by a user who was perusing the Tamil version/translation of the Purana (Even an illustrative word - nambike - is added in pure Tamil). The English Translation of the text by Wood and Subrahmaniam referenced in the article gives these words in proper Sanskrit without any room for doubt. Another wikipedia article Naraka(Hinduism) also gives them with details. The proper thing to be done is to have the corrections done at the earliest, isn't it? Greetings, with regards to the aforementioned article, I will state the reasoning as to why the terms are unsuitable.
  • "Editor does not know the correct terms used in the mentioned paragraphs therefore altered and replaced them with misleading terms."
    • There was no corroborating references to your edits to show that you have taken proper caution and care to make a major change to the article by replacing the Sanskrit terms with Tamil ones.
    • However, your edits to Garuda Purana changed the article theme based on Sanskrit text to Tamil based text.
    • Since, there is only one common article on Garuda Purana, wouldn't it be best to preserve the article terms' in Sanskrit and transliterate them into English.
  • There is no wrong committed if you were to quote Tamil translations of the article, if it is under Tamil Wikipedia. However it would be unsuitable for the English based Wikipedia when there is an English translation of the article available for all Tamil and non-Tamil speaking readers.
  • As you pointed out earlier, I do not see the relevance of the Naraka (Hinduism) article. (The terms are all in Sanskrit and transliterated into English)

Hope this would clarify the matter. Always a pleasure. Sreeking (talk) 06:23, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Really, what is going on here? Are you replying to the user who long back added these Tamil terms, or to me who edited them to the standard Sanskrit terms? It would be beneficial to copy this whole reply of yours and notify that user.Nidhishunnikrishnan (talk) 17:27, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Ah, I see. I believe I do owe you an apology for all the trouble that I have caused here. I construed from your reply that you were condoning and justifying your edits. I believe we have always been on the same side from the begining, just not knowing that you've already corrected the mistakes made by another user. I stand corrected. Hope this would clarify the matter. Always a pleasure.Sreeking (talk) 08:04, 16 August 2014 (UTC)

Never mind. Indeed we have always been on the same side all the time. The material in the article needs further revision by the way. "Paribathana" and "Kunthasootha" completely fail me. The lists in Vishnu Purana, Garuda Purana and Bhagavatha differ slightly, but I can't make these two correspond to any of them.Nidhishunnikrishnan (talk) 09:39, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
