This filter seems to be failing for recent edits by I.pezzuto (talk · contribs · block log). Is it possible to adjust it to catch these edits as well? Thank you. Jojalozzo 21:54, 29 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Mi-17 crash closure

edit

Just as a note to your closing comment, those multiple IPs with contribs were further socks of the banned user who created the article. - The Bushranger One ping only 06:08, 2 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

IPs across various ranges have edited it, and we don't have anything linking them to the banned user other than the fact that they edited the same article, contributing perfectly NPOV text. A CheckUser would be necessary in this instance, but I think it's better to just drop the stick here and hope we catch banned edits earlier before a bunch of ambiguous intervening edits get in the way. -- King of 06:42, 2 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your support and comment at my recent successful RFA. Being now the new fellow in the fraternity of administrators, I will do my best to live up to the confidence shown in me by others, will move slowly and carefully when using the mop, will seek input from others before any action of which I might be unsure, and will try not to break anything beyond repair. I do not feel adminship is authority, but is rather a responsibility and trust accompanied by a few extra buttons. Best, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 17:25, 4 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Best and Co. move

edit

You somehow moved Best & Co. (retailer founded 1997) to Talk:Best & Co./Best & Co. (retailer founded 1997). Which means the article is now on a sub page of a talk page (even though it has a tag for cleanup that usually goes on article pages.) It looks like you were trying to do something related to archiving. I considered just moving it back but wanted to ask if there is a better way to handle this. RJFJR (talk) 18:10, 5 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

The point is, it was decided that the article should be deleted without a redirect. However, since Best & Co. contains merged content, we must preserve the history by the GFDL, so that is the holding cell for the article history. -- King of 07:56, 7 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Could you also restore File:Elyse.JPG, File:Newmaker.jpg, File:KelseySmith.jpg, File:StephanieKuhen.png, File:MarthaMoxley.jpg, File:SylviaLikens.jpg, thanks. These were listed in the DRV nom and were grouped one after another in the original XfD (here), with identical noms and results. Herostratus (talk) 14:15, 8 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Edit Filter 390

edit

Hey KoH, I was wondering if you could tweak Edit Filter 390 for me. It has been doing a pretty good job getting [25 hits and keeping the vandal at bay, but it seems he changed his editing just enough to get past it back on September 14th. The edits made, which I am told contained a certain racial insult, were RevDel'd today (December 9th). Apparently, the user also has a strong hatred for certain soap opera stars like Eden Riegel and Laura Wright, among many other actresses in Daytime television and just Hollywood in general like Brittany Snow. I am not sure how you want to handle that part, but the radio/TV part should (I hope) be easy to fix. Take Care...NeutralhomerTalk21:46, 9 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

I semi-protected the pages and disabled the filter, since the filter was essentially semi-protection. -- King of 00:07, 11 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Okie Dokie. Indef semi-protection probably won't be a popular choice with the other anons, but it had to be done in this case. That guy, for whatever reason, just wasn't giving up. :( Thanks...NeutralhomerTalk01:57, 11 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
At least now they know it's not their fault. Otherwise they would be hit by an edit filter message identifying their edit as unconstructive, as opposed to a global lockdown of the page. -- King of 04:55, 11 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Yeah and the latter is the better of the two. We did get a little colateral damage with the edit filter, not much though. This way the anons can post of the talk page with suggestions for the page, the "sign-in editors" can make them and that damned annoying vandal stays out. Everyone is happy. Thanks for your help. :) - NeutralhomerTalk05:03, 11 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

A Suggestion

edit

Heyas, might I suggest an article that I created (shameless promotion) that might help with any "please stop deleting my page" and "why did you delete my page" posts you might have received. It's User:Neutralhomer/WWMAD. What I do is just post it as {{subst:User:Neutralhomer/WWMAD}}~~~~ and it creates the section header and signs it itself, just a copy/paste job. It might help so you won't have to constantly answer those posts. Just slap the template on their talk page. Feel free to tinker with the page at User:Neutralhomer/WWMAD, if you like. - NeutralhomerTalk01:50, 13 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. It might come in handy. -- King of 18:42, 13 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi King of Hearts. The FfD closure was "keep", so in your close of Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2011 December 4#File:OccupyUCD3.jpg, did you mean to say "overturn to delete"? Cunard (talk) 18:50, 13 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yes, sorry. -- King of 19:03, 13 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
No worries. Thank you for the correction. Cunard (talk) 19:08, 13 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi, regarding the attempt by the guy from the Daviswiki to get a photographer to grant a release of her photo [1] under a Creative Commons license for us to then use I think nothing came of that. He cc'ed me the email he sent to her - I did not contact her myself. So I think this counts as one "fail" in the attempts to find a suitable free replacement image. LoveUxoxo (talk) 19:34, 13 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

There's a bunch of images at [2], but none of them currently available under a Wikipedia-compatible license. Could you try asking them to see if 1) they are the photographer and 2) they are willing to release under CC-BY-SA? -- King of 19:38, 13 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
OK, I'm actually going to be traveling though, so may ask others on the article's talk page to give it a shot. Because it was Grinch-like of me to support deleting the image I felt I should make a slight effort to replace it, but I don't really care too much personally. LoveUxoxo (talk) 19:46, 13 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
That's a good idea. -- King of 19:48, 13 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Please look again and reconsider

edit

Hi - please look again at the threats, edit warring, talk page messages, edit summaries left by 98.92.187.224. Even if both of them are the same user, they obviously know Wikipedia well enough that they are likely hiding behind their changing IP address. Their actions are disruptive and borderline harassment. Lhb1239 (talk) 06:11, 17 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

And he's now crossed over from borderline harassment at my talk page to out-and-out harassment. Lhb1239 (talk) 06:16, 17 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Regarding User talk:98.92.187.224

edit

The user has threatened us on our talk pages, User talk:Lhb1239 and User talk:Ankit Maity. What about that? Those are all personal attacks.--Ankit Maity Talkcontribs 06:22, 17 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

There have been no threats nor personal attacks. The two Users started with the hostility in their edit summaries. 98.92.187.224 (talk) 06:25, 17 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Please note 98.92.187.224. That I was only trying to restore my warnings. I did not include any edit summaries. Please note, those warnings were automatic.--Ankit Maity Talkcontribs 06:29, 17 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

UPDATE: IP has been blocked for 3 days for harassment. Lhb1239 (talk) 06:30, 17 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

follow-up

edit

Please note that User:Lhb1239 has resumed his disruptive editing at Talk:Mad Men by removing legitimate discussion of improving the article -- and, ironically, has engaged in the same warning/templating behavior on my talkpage [3] [4] [5] [6] which he complained about as 'harassment' above and elsewhere. I have reported this matter to WP:WQA#User removing article talkpage discussion. -El duderino (talk) 21:07, 19 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

And now he has filed a frivolous report at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Edit_warring which he even admits is to "make a point". El duderino (talk) 21:28, 19 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
No - I said YOU were trying to make a point with your edit warring behavior. Lhb1239 (talk) 21:29, 19 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Why did you delete the Slim Dunkin article

edit

Why did you delete the Slim Dunkin article. He was just killed and in so many newspapers. It just makes Wikipedia look bad. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.158.29.160 (talk) 20:51, 18 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

The article did not indicate how the artist was notable, so the article was deleted under speedy deletion criterion A7. -- King of 00:50, 20 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Naglfar albums

edit

Hello I am new to editing/writing Wikipedia articles, and I noticed that the band Naglfar's discography does not have any articles because it says you deleted them and I must contact you first before writing them. I was wanting to write them and have valid sources to do so. They are about to release a new album and it would be helpful for new and old fans to have as much information as possible on all of their releases, especially since Wikipedia is where everyone goes for information nowadays. Please respond as soon as you can. Thank you.

-Alex — Preceding unsigned comment added by OfficialRecurrence (talkcontribs) 14:09, 28 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

I believe you are talking about Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/When Autumn Storms Come (album): am I right? When I deleted the album pages, it appeared at the time that the page for the band itself would also get deleted. But that didn't happen, so I have restored the articles on the albums and made them redirect to the band for now. Feel free to develop them into full articles if you believe that they meet the notability guidelines for albums. -- King of 19:28, 28 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
