Word2MediaWikiPlus

Looking at your earlier question, it seems as though you were asking about how to create an article using Word. In the process, you have created an article called Word2MediaWikiPlus. Is this a program you used to format the article you created? It's fairly unreadable in its current state, but if the subject is notable someone with more experience can help you clean it up. • Yeah, we can continue when you get back. That should be fine. Wikify and cleanup are close in meaning. Wikify means to bring the article closer to the Manual of Style guidelines for how an article should look. That link you mentioned regarding the backlog indicates articles that need wikifying, but doesn't define it well. Cleanup is a process where users look at "messy" articles. Like I said, they're both similar, and the tags really just alert people to an article in need of help; the more people the better. Leebo⁸⁶ 02:07, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Was this edit to my talk page posted by you? The IP address has no other contributions, so I'm assuming you probably didn't realize you weren't logged in. If that's the case, I'll review the article, and I'll try to clean it up a bit. It doesn't look like anyone else has done that yet. I just tried cleaning it up and I'm not even sure where to start. Have you looked at other biographical articles to see how they are usually written? There's a standard format (Wikipedia:Manual of Style). I'm going to have trouble rewriting it without making substantial changes to things you wrote. You should review Wikipedia:Citing sources for an idea of how inline citations work. You also need to add double brackets [[like this]] around important words and terms.

I have another question, and don't take offence, but what is your relation to Mr. Lewy? The article is written in an extremely extensive manner, but only the academic portions are cited with sources, not the facts of personal history. Leebo⁸⁶ 16:57, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for looking at it again. Leebo. Would you mind making a pass at it? I understand substantial changes are needed. I thought I had it covered. The syntax is a little intimidating; that was the idea of the WordtoWiki program I used. I think you understand the essential thrust of the article. I am Dr Lewy's research assistant; so I am familiar with his academic accomplishments, and hunted down the newspaper references, philanthrophy and so on from him. AfD nomination of Robert Ira Lewy

Hi, Kingseason. I apologize for doing this without consulting you again, but it's been several months since the article was created and I'm still not sure that Dr. Lewy meets our notability requirements. I've started a discussion about the article at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Robert Ira Lewy. You may make any arguments there. This is not a gesture of ill will, and the best case scenario of this will be that someone rewrites the article to meet our standards. Right now, I don't feel that I can do that. Hi Kingseason. I have seen your request for deletion, but there's not really anything I can do about it. The community has to decide through the discussion. Even from a purely technical standpoint, I couldn't delete any page because I'm not an administrator. I'm sorry if recent developments with the article have caused Dr. Lewy displeasure. There are a couple of issues at work. Firstly, once a contribution is made, it belongs to the community. This means that the article, and any content added to it, is decided by the community, while individual users or the subjects usually do not have a final say in what is included. While it's understandable for Dr. Lewy to intend the article to be a certain way, it's also a conflict of interest for a Wikipedian to include or exclude information based on personal ties to the subject. I don't mean to sound like I'm giving you a hard time, but for better or worse, your account is what Wikipedia defines as a single purpose account, and your goal was to fulfill Dr. Lewy's request. Then we have Marciamaria, another single purpose account, whose goal is obviously to undermine the positive aspects of Dr. Lewy's biography with relevant negative information and irrelevant negative personal information like Dr. Lewy's past wives. In that way, my preference would be for the article to be deleted, since it was a conflict of interest to begin with, and the opposing user wishes only to highlight negative things because she appears to have a personal vendetta with Dr. Lewy (also a likely conflict of interest). But, now that it's been introduced to the community, other editors have begun to contribute and spoken that they feel he is notable enough to have an entry once they make it neutral. The deletion discussion will be sorted out by an administrator shortly, it's due to be decided tomorrow. Given the conflict of interests, I'm going to ask that you and Marciamaria do not edit the article, and if it is kept I'll make sure that it gets reduced to something that applies due weight to the relevant issues. Articles are very rarely "locked" from editing (our term is protection) and when it happens it's for large groups of users, such as semi-protection to keep anonymous users from editing and full-protection to keep all users except admins from editing. Regarding the deletion discussion, the decision that the admin is going to make is whether or not consensus exists to delete the article or to keep it. If it is deleted, I think you and Marciamaria would be happy, but I'm not sure that will happen. If it is kept, you are not explicitly prohibited from editing it, but it's discouraged to edit with a conflict of interest, particularly when the issue is disputed. It's not a big deal if, say Tiger Woods, makes a Wikipedia account to say "Hey, you guys got my birthday wrong," and changes it. But if he wanted to edit the article that to further promote himself, it would be inappropriate and he'd be asked to stop. Basically, no you can't be kept from editing it specifically, but if you did decide to go against the guideline for conflicts of interest and edit it you could possibly be blocked for disruption, which would apply to all articles, not just Dr. Lewy's. Robert Ira Lewy

Hi, the "citation needed" tags were not added to this article by a bot, but by me. There are numerous claims made in this article about achievements, personal details and even "prominence" which are not cited to reliable sources. If they cannot be backed up by reliable sources they should not be included in the article - see WP:VERIFY. Rather than deleting the information, I added the tags to give yourself or another editor opportunity to find reliable sources. Please do not simply delete the tags. Hi again. Please do not remove "tags" placed at the top of Robert Iraw Lewy without either discussing them on the talk page or improving the issues they point out in the article. The discussion on the article from 2007 about deleting/keeping it noted that it had significant problems including that it appeared to contain only positive information and reads like a resume. These issues have still not been addressed. You have noted above that you work/ed as the article subject's research assistant, which means you have a conflict of interest and so you should be particularly careful about trying to erase these kinds of concerns when they are raised by other editors, especially as you have not entered into any discussion. Making edits while logged out reveals your IP address, which may allow others to determine your location and identity. Wikipedia's policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow the use of more than one account or IP address by one person. restoration of prior version

I would appreciate it if the first three paragraphs of this entry could be restored. These deal with my training and early involvement in the civil rights movement,my work with organized medicine in Harris county including committees, and my treatment of AIDS patients in Houston at a time where literally they were outcasts and rejected by every hospital. There are no plaques or news notices for this but my peers at the unit are available Thank you Dr Robert Lewy----

Hi Kingseason. You've posted this on your user talk page which means there's a good chance that only those editors watching your page are going to see it. It would be much better for you to post this at Talk:Robert Ira Lewy because it involves content you want added to that particular article. Just click on the "New Section" link at the top of the article's talk page and then add your questions/comments there. Make sure you remember to sign your posts.

One more thing, it seems like you are sort of declaring that you have a conflict of interest with Robert Ira Lewy in your above post. Please be advised that conflict of interest editing is something highly discouraged on Wikipedia, so it's best to be upfront about this with the other editors working on the page. They will be much more incined to help you if you do so. If you are indeed Robert Lewy, then that doesn't mean you have absolutely no say about what is in the Wikiepdia article about you, but it does mean there are limits as to what you yourself can do. Please read WP:PSCOI#What to do when something goes wrong and WP:PSCOI#Steps for engagement for the recommended way that persons deal with Wikiepdia articles written about themselves or things they are closely connected to. Breast Implant expert witness clarification

Firstly, im sorry I did editing myself. I understand the rules now and it will not happen again. Certainly defeats the goal of Wiki.

regards the treatment of my expert witness status, which is one-sided and allies itself with a very prejudicial NY TImes article whose goal was to embarass experts who were court appointed, please consider this I see your quotation and conclusions from the NY Times articles. please understand this was a very politicized subject which I had little to do with scientifically. If you look at the content of reference 9, you see that reports of silicone autoimmune disease started many years prior, where raw silicone was injected in womens breasts and developed sclerosis. I was referred such patients by plastic surgeons as a member of the American College of Rheumatology as well as a board certified Hematologist. I happened to be working at a Womans Hospital. A class action settlement for implant patients began about 1992. I had nothing to do with it. I had reported some cases in the peer reviewed Texas Medicine. I was asked by the court with others to serve as an expert and examine large numbers of patients before a certain deadline.Hence the large numbers,but there was no "practice" I testified when I was subpoened,perhaps 10 times ever. There were rheumatologists selected in every city so this is what I believe was the "cottage" industry but all under court mandate only. At the same time the scientific issue progressed. The NIH held a meeting in DC which I was invited to present a peer reviewed paper (ref 4)and write a chapter. It was years before the sutoimmunity question was settled and still 10 more before the rupture issue was solved. Gina Kolata and Barry Meier specialized and still do in sensational medical exposees.
