Discovery Bay page
editMany thanks for your stylistic + content changes to the Discovery Bay page. They are very much appreciated and I look forward to continuing collaborating with you and other editors. I have one question though - shouldn't the new Marina Club paragraph go under "Clubs and Recreation" instead? --Mintchocicecream 00:22, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
Thank you for your comments and I am glad you were not offended by my changes -- and that you obviously share my attitude that it is always a help to have someone else look over one's copy, even if only for basic proof-reading. I invariably find it embarrassing to review something I wrote a few months later, especially if I did not ask someone to comment at the start. And, yes, you are quite right about the Marina Club paragraph. Actually I had already noticed that on re-reading the entire page and hope to adjust it later today.
One other thing: do you think it would be a good idea to add a section on specific recreational activities? For example, there are many keen hikers like myself in DB and its a terrific starting point for many great walks. However, we would need to include more than one person's favourite activity! Best regards. kintak 03:21, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for corrections to the Marina Club bit. Sounds good - go ahead! I think there was a little about hiking (not sure) but I think that's a good idea. Someone previously contributed something on the Lantau Boat Club, so I guess over time it will be good. --Mintchocicecream 12:19, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
- Perhaps the best approach would be to assemble a shortlist of types of activities available supplemented by a few exanples. Obviously this is not the place for detailed instructions such as itineraries in the case of hiking. The aim should be to add to the complete picture of DB, and with luck once we have one or two examples in place, that may encourage others to contribute to the list. Who knows, we may uncover a formerly unknown club for newt fanciers or a hamburger ranching society. At any rate, it should help contribute a little extra detail to what is essentially a sociological study. At any rate, I'll give it a go. — kintak 10:51, 8 October 2005 (UTC)
Question about photos
editHi, I have a question about two photos you uploaded, Image:Stephanie cole1963.jpg and Image:Stewart tranchell.jpg. Are you yourself actually Norman Wingrove? One user at WikiCommons expressed doubts about the license and asked me to investigate. Regards, Thuresson 12:48, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, I am Norman Wingrove, I own the copyright for the two photographs in question, both of which were taken by me. The samples on Wikipedia were taken from an original print and an original, (very degraded after nearly half a century) Ektachrome slide. Regards, kintak

Image copyright problem with Image:Watson watt 02.jpg
editHi Kintak!
We thank you for uploading Image:Watson watt 02.jpg, but there is a problem. Your image is currently missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Unless you can help by adding a copyright tag, it may be deleted by an Administrator. If you know this information, then we urge you to add a copyright tag to the image description page. We apologize for this, but all images must confirm to policy on Wikipedia.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks so much for your cooperation.

Speedy deletion of Image:Watson watt 01.jpg
editA tag has been placed on Image:Watson watt 01.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Watson watt 01.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Suspect image
editIf you cannot assure admins that you are in fact the Norman Wingrove to whom the photo at Image:Stewart tranchell.jpg belongs, it is going to be deleted as a copyright violation. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 20:39, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Stephanie cole1963.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Stephanie cole1963.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 17 April 2019 (UTC)
The file File:Buddha4.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
unused, low-res, no obvious use
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
