Adoption

edit

Hi! I see that you've requested to be adopted, and I'd be happy to adopt you. If you'd like to accept, just leave a message on my talk page. --Sopoforic 11:41, 2 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Then it's official. I've changed the {{adoptoffer}} userbox on your user page to reflect that I've adopted you.
Regarding making userboxes: it probably isn't necessary; we have a huge number of them available already. Wikipedia:Userboxes has a list of the userbox galleries, and you ought to be able to find whatever you like there; if not, that page also gives instructions on how to create your own. Should you have any specific questions about creating userboxes, you can ask me, although it isn't really my area of expertise.
Regarding leaving comments: you seem to know pretty well how to do that already, since you successfully left a comment on my talk page. One thing, though: the header for your comment was "== ==Adoption== ==". If you left that message by clicking the plus sign on my talk page, note that you don't need to put the equals signs in the subject box--they're added automatically. You only have to put them in when you are creating the section manually. There's lots of information about appropriate use of talk pages at Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines, if you'd like more information.
As for signatures: You certainly should always sign your comments. This lets other users know who wrote the comment and when it was written. Do this by placing ~~~~ after your comment, or clicking the ~~~~ after Sign your username: after the text box on talk pages. There's more detail at Wikipedia:Signatures.
If you should have any questions for me, feel free to ask them. I'll try to respond as quickly as possible. Happy editing! --Sopoforic 13:30, 3 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's fine to have your signature say something different, as long as the link to your user page is there. You don't seem to have actually made any edits to your userpage except to add the link to a subpage, so I can't tell what sort of trouble you're having with templates. Essentially, templates work like this: You place the name of the template (the part after Template:) between two pairs of curly braces (these: {{ }}) and the template will show up on your page. You seem to have successfully added {{User FixMyPage}} to User:Kisses4roselle/kisses4roselle, so I don't know what the trouble is. If you'll describe just what difficulties you're experiencing, I can probably offer a little better assistance.

That said, though, you don't need to be a wizard at templates (or any other thing) to contribute to wikipedia. There's a page at Help:Wikitext examples with most of the basics you'll need to use wikitext, and the box at the right of that page has pretty much everything else you'll need to know. However, you don't have to read all of that! Another great way to learn is just to browse around, and when you see something interesting, click the edit link to see how it was done. Of course, you can fix typos or other errors along the way. Be sure to make your edits from a neutral point of view, and cite your sources, but aside from that, be bold! --Sopoforic 16:50, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Help:

edit

These are questions I'm not surprised to hear from a new user.

  1. Userboxes, just paste the code of the box anywhere on your userpage. For example, you could use {{User:Richard0612/Userbox Archive/green}} to produce
This user's favorite color is green.

. In addition, you can place several userboxes in a group by placing them between {{Boxboxtop}} and {{Boxboxbottom}}. See WP:UBX and WP:UBX#Gallery for more.

  1. Transclusion, a transclusion is simply a page copied onto another page. For example, you could place page A on page B by placing ((A}} on the page. Whenever page A changes, page B will change as well. See WP:TRANS and WP:SUBST.

  2. Signature, by checking the "Raw Signature" box in your preferences, you can format your signature like any other Wiki text. See this if you want some formatting tips. Also, see WP:SIG.

Let me warn you now, a cool userpage and signature aren't widely accepted as a good use of time on Wikipedia, so try not to get too fancy (I managed to keep my signature looking cool without much text). When I was new, I already had over a thousand edits to my userpage before I started helping out with the project. I hope that answered your questions! (Also, see WP:BARN). See ya around. *Cremepuff222* 23:07, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Userboxen

edit

They seem fine to me, except that you missed a space on one, which I've corrected. I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'move or migrate,' but what you've done is the standard way of including templates--transclusion; you can find more information about templates at Help:Template, in case I didn't give you that link above.

That said, you should consider editing some articles other than just your user page. You seem to like anime, so perhaps you could find some tasks that interest you at Wikipedia:WikiProject Anime and manga. If not, I can help you find something else that interests you.

As always, should you need anything, please don't hesitate to contact me. --Sopoforic 03:26, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

De-adoption

edit

Hi. It's been a couple of months since you've contributed to wikipedia, so I'm removing you from my list of adoptees. If you should wish to participate again, you may leave me a message, or place {{subst:dated adoptme}} on your user page in order to request a new adopter. --Sopoforic 01:27, 11 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
