The article Steve Rao has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article, which appeared to be about a real person, did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Steve Rao - notability
editWikipedia's basic inclusion criterion, called Wikipedia:Notability, is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and anything based on press releases. There is more detail at WP:Notability (people), and a summary at WP:Notability (summary).
The references in the article were all to his own website, except for one piece from his employer, which does not count as independent, and one showing his name in a list of people who won school tennis championships nearly thirty years ago, which is not substantial.
If you wish, I will restore the article into a sub-page in your User space where you can work on it. I do not do that at once, because I do not want you to waste your time. Not knowing more than what was in the article, it seems to me very unlikely that Mr Rao is notable in Wikipedia's sense. That is not at all to his discredit, but only means that he is not a suitable subject for a global encyclopedia. Before you decide, think hard about notability. Piling up a large number of trivial references (a technique known as WP:BOMBARDMENT) does not help. The test is, have people not connected with him thought him important or significant enough to write significant comment about?
