Welcome to Wikipedia, Kjscotte34! I am AFriedman and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome!

Blogs

edit

There is absolutely no universal Wikipedia rule that blogs are not reliable sources. It depends on where the blog is located and who is writing it. Blahblah32blahblah (talk) 18:52, 23 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hey, I'm with you. I want to get it right, just like you. But we still have to stick with what the team has officially put out. That's all. I'm willing to be next week he shows up and does wear #27. Kjscotte34 (talk) 18:55, 23 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Blocked him for a year

edit

Well, I warned him, but apparently, he didn't listen. I just blocked him for a year as promised. If you need to report a sock of this nincompoop again, just go to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Or, give me a call.  :) --PMDrive1061 (talk) 16:29, 21 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Common name/real name

edit

As I said before your edit, I recognized that Vince McMahon is his common name. In fact, if you have time to look in the history, I changed his name from Vincent to Vince in the World Wrestling Entertainment article. But it is not the case in the List of WWE personnel article. The column is about real names. Theodore DiBiase common name is Ted DiBiase, but in that column is stated Theodore DiBiase instead because is his born name, so his real name. The same case occurs in Randy Orton. This is his common name. But in the real name column is stated Randal Orton because is his born name. The same with Tony Chimel/Anthony Chimel, Bill DeMott/William DeMott, Matt Martlaro/Matthew Martlaro, Steve Keirn/Stephen Keirn, Tom Prichard/Thomas Prichard, Jack Doan/John Doan, Mike Chioda/Michael Chioda and many others in the same article. Why would be different with Vince? Why could not be stated that his real name is Vincent? I hope you understand my point of view. I expect you comprehend that common name and real name in this case are two completely different things. Thanks for the attention. WWEJobber (talk) 09:22, 12 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sergio Mitre

edit

I found the Mitre transaction on MLB's official website (MLB.com). Go to the players drop down bar on the home page, and there's a thing for transactions. You should find it there. Gibberish77 (talk) 22:05, 29 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Re

That's probably the best place to stick it; the problem is that while it was a significant event in his career, he never outright said he did it (probably on the advice of his attorney). I'm not a BLP zealot by any stretch, but that's a pretty serious BLP issue, so I removed it. Thanks for giving your opinion; I always like feedback and ideas. Looks like ESPN has been right with every number so far. We'll see later if they're all correct on ESPN. RevanFan (talk) 16:07, 19 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Well, ESPN got every number right, just as I thought. Can we trust them now? RevanFan (talk) 21:43, 19 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Just to update, after more evidence was provided, the sockpuppet Nomelck and the sockmaster have been banned. Starship.paint (talk) 09:05, 3 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

The new evidence was simply their new contributions after the investigation was closed. They posted twice more to the same talk page agreeing with each other within half an hour. In light of this the closing admin decided there was enough evidence, as the investigation was already very suspicious. Starship.paint (talk) 13:19, 3 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Roster numbers

Yeah, no problem. I was just thinking it was all legit. But not a big deal. Correct?-DANO- (talk) 02:02, 4 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Twitter as a source

edit

I knew I had read something about this matter before, and I just found this essay. It seems to suggest that a beat writer's reporting shouldn't use Twitter as a citation, but if Youkilis himself were to tweet his number, that would be okay. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:11, 4 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Editing Restrictions

edit

I am an autoconfirmed user. Earlier today, I attempted to make an edit to the Alex Rodriguez article, which is semi-protected. However, I was denied access. Kjscotte34 (talk) 18:45, 1 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

As far as I can see, the logs show it is semi-protected against editing, but fully protected against moving...
  1. Did you attempt to move it?
  2. If editing - was it directly (i.e. wikitext) or with the new Visual Editor?
  3. What message did the system give you?
 Ronhjones  (Talk) 18:52, 1 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Two additional questions: Have you tried whether the effect persists? Is this the only article affected, or are you denied access to all semi-protected articles? Huon (talk) 19:15, 1 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
