File:Lincoln.jpg

edit

Hi there. It looks like you're new around here—welcome to Wikipedia! I just wanted to let you know that your recently uploaded file called File:Lincoln.jpg was uploaded overtop of an older image of the same name. (You can see this near the bottom of that page in the file history.) It's important when uploading to make sure that this doesn't happen, because when you replace a file, that old image is replaced with the new one on every page where it's embedded. You can avoid this by simply changing the name to something different. For now, I've fixed Lincoln.jpg, but if you want to re-upload the file of Lincoln (the president) under a different file name feel free.

You can find more details about images at Wikipedia:Image use policy. Mr. Absurd (talk) 21:59, 13 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for fixing it for me. Yes I am new and was not aware of my mistake. I will keep that in mind for the future. Best.

You're welcome. If you have any questions about Wikipedia, feel free to ask me.
Also, just so you know, talk page replies are usually (though not always) posted on that user's talk page so they get an orange talk page notification. You can read more about this at Help:User Talk Page Postings. They're also usually indented using colons to make things easy to read; you can see how that's done at Help:Using talk pages#Indentation. (I've indented your post above for you.) Don't worry about not knowing those little things, though, you'll pick it up soon enough! Mr. Absurd (talk) 02:56, 14 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:Lincoln 3.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Lincoln 3.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
