Wikipedia Stories Project
Hi!
My name is Victor and I'm a storyteller with the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that supports Wikipedia. I'm chronicling the inspiring stories of the Wikipedia community around the world, including those from readers, editors, and donors. Stories are absolutely essential for any non-profit to persuade people to support the cause, and we know the vast network of people who make and use Wikipedia have so much to share.
You are quite a prolific writer, I would be very interested in speaking with you.
I'd very much like the opportunity to interview you to tell your story, with the possibility of using it in our materials, on our community websites, or as part of this year’s fundraiser to encourage others to support Wikipedia. Please let me know if you're inclined to take part in the Wikipedia Stories Project.
Thank you for your time,
Victor Grigas

Blood transfusions
G'day, thanks for your last responce, didn't take the time to say thanks because I thought it'd be wasting your time to say something just to say thanks.
I thought I'd mention blood transfusions because I noticed what you said about organ donation, and whenever an organ is donated there will be some blood in it and Acts 15:29 [See below I'll include a quotation of the verse and the necessary predeceeding verses to gain some context if you don't already know the context] speaks about abstaining from blood you could say it meant animal blood but do you think you'd be holy if you ate some corpses blood? A corpse you didn't kill but none the less. You may think it's a restriction on eating blood, but it doesn't specify and when you can't eat you're feed via IV so having an IV of blood equates in this way at least to eating blood.
Acts 15:28-29 "For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay upon you no greater burden than these essentials: 29that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication; if you keep yourselves free from such things, you will do well. Farewell.” (NASB)
For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay no greater burden on you than these necessary things: 29 that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality, from which if you keep yourselves, it will be well with you. Farewell." (World English Bible)
For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; 29That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well. (KJV)
'For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, no more burden to lay upon you, except these necessary things: 29 to abstain from things offered to idols, and blood, and a strangled thing, and whoredom; from which keeping yourselves, ye shall do well; be strong!' (YLT)
I should tell you now, I am not a Jehovah's Witness and neither do I believe it is a sin to accept and give blood transfusions in life-threatening situations I thought I'd ask you this question to see what your answer is.
Another question, which Bible translation if your preferance?
Oh and by the way I'm vegetarian two, not vegan although. Neither am I drug free, like I don't take any illicit drugs or harmful drugs like Nicotine or alcohol but I do consume caffeine and drugs I am prescribed. But I am vegetarian mostly because I am afraid of someone (even myself) not cooking the meat I eat properly and consequently me getting a parasite. Although I do agree Jesus preached non-violence and mercy and thus mercy towards animals, despite not being a sin per say is a nice thing to do.
By the way have you read Didache? (The NT Apocryphal book) I know NT apocryphal books are not always helpful but I think this book is worth reading I've read some of it. It has a final chapter (chapter 16) that includes an account of the Apocalypse. It also is an early manuscript dated around 50-120 AD and it is rare in that it explicitly forbids abortion by saying we are to abstain from killing the born and unborn.
LAST MINUTE HELP WITH A SOURCE ERROR
Hi there! I need some help if you don't mind. I am doing the article on Gene Luen Yang and every time I try to put in one specific source, I have problems. It is coming up on the 3rd source. It was working and now it keeps giving me an error message. This is the message I get now:
- Cite error: Invalid [1]
It was just working about 10 minutes ago, then, I edited a different section and now it is giving me this error. If you can, tell me what to do to fix it so I can try to fix it on my own and learn how to correct such issues. Also, I will post this to the professor's and the other campus ambassador's talk pages as well, just in case you're too busy to respond. Let me know if you're not able to see what I do. Thanks a lot! —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 19:23, 21 April 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Veganchic (talk • contribs) 11:10, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
Actually, if you have the time, could you look over my article for me? I'm not finished yet. I still have quite a bit to add but I want to make sure I'm on the right track. I actually have Gene Yang reviewing it for me when I'm finished, for factual accuracy, so I would hate to send shoddy work. If you're willing, could you not change any major errors you see for me? Like formatting and stuff.I'd like to fix them myself and mainly I'm not done and still have a few things to move around and flesh out but want to be sure what's there is starting to sound good. Little stuff is ok like comas and what not but the sentence moving stuff is throwing me way off and sets me back. Yeah, that happened and I had to move it all back around because the person didn't know that I was taking that stuff out to put it somewhere else where it fit better. I had to pretty much rewrite this entire article, so I was in the midst of breaking it down and just starting to rebuild it. That set me back a couple of hours! I know they meant well but I about had a heart attack! haha Thanks a lot!! You've been a big help on this project!! Veganchic (talk) 20:44, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it! I had a big issue with finding more credible sources for this article. He's so young and there isn't a lot written about him. He does quite a few speeches but they all pretty much cover the same information which I covered in the article and the prof would rather we don't use the first hand sources. I'm just at a point now where I'm kind of up against a wall to try and get the full 1500 words required. Would looking into who wrote the blog and evaluating the credibility of the author help at all with being able to use that source? I am struggling to fill this thing. I just keep finding the same things over and over again. Also, when I use one source for all the information in, say, a paragraph, do I cite it after ever piece of information? Thanks again! Veganchic (talk) 02:05, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

CCM performers
Maybe you would be interested in the discussion going on here: User talk:Boguslavmandzyuk#Alan Hall (musician). I'm getting the impression that the people I am talking to contest the notability of CCM performers and Christian music is not important enough to for any of it's less famous performers to be covered here on wikipedia. Personally, I thought I had cleary established the notability of Allan Hall of Selah), but my claims are being flat-out rejected without any consideration and reasons to say why they are wrong, the sources I provide (which are considered valid in every single article, excpet when it comes to Mr. Hall apparently) are being said to have no value, amidst offensive claims that "The Dove awards are pretty much meaningless". --BoguSlav 04:36, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

- re your question at the DYK nom - the person who moves the nom to the prep area chooses which version of the hook to use if there are alternates. Looks like she used yours (fine by me). - I concur wholeheartedly with the above and am removing the Javanese wikipedia prod (if youd looked at the talk page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Javanese_Wikipedia you might see that I have grappled with the issue - a metaphor for prodding articles like these is like taking your family out and putting them in the rubbish bin - they happen to be parts of the whole - try some other prod subject areas rather than these please SatuSuro 10:18, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- All the people who have for whatever reason see something great about your edit count - could be considered to be part of a community or a family - online - - wikiprojects in languages other than english - happen to be part of the wikipedia community or family - there is no other way for the average user who is monolingual to know about the non english language wikipedias - the articles are useful internal self reference- and as such are things that should be kept - not prodded - even if sourcing or context is limited under normal rules - yes i do think it is the equivalent of trashing family SatuSuro 10:30, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- If you really think they were valid prods - why dont you try doing that to the category structure of the whole of wikipedia? there are many container categories that you might think of in the same way.. if you think it is valid to prod internal self referencing items that help explain wikipedia in other languages - I honestly think you need to explain yourself further - this is not just a disagree - it is fundamental as to understand as to how major parts of wikipedia work SatuSuro 10:36, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

On 30 April 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the Flaming Lips plan to include blood samples from their collaborators in the vinyl edition of their album The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |
Question for the album cover maven
(Yes, that's you.) Is this a regular way to subcategorize? Or is this just more Kiefer's goofiness? Good Ol’factory (talk) 22:56, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
