Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Thank you. OhNoitsJamie Talk 21:07, 13 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

It was not intended on being a promotional material. The site was just recently launched and I though it should be added to wikipedia for present and future historic data. What or how should I commence if this is my intention then? I noticed sites with the exact same setup?

Google Webmasters Blog

edit

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 02:34, 14 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

It seems to be absolutely impossible to add anything as a new user to the wikipedia community without having it reverted. I added a link to googles web master blog and I am promoting it? I was adding an extremely valuable resource to the topic the section was talking about.KooDating (talk) 03:00, 14 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
First of all, there is no evidence that your website meets our WP:CORP notability criteria. Other sites listed on that page do. There is also the obvious conflict of interest issue. If your website ever becomes notable, I'm sure someone will create an article for it. OhNoitsJamie Talk 13:07, 14 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
This was a separate edit, where I added an external link to Google Webmasters Blog as an SEO resource.KooDating (talk) 13:21, 14 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Please see WP:EL. Blog links are rarely appropriate. If we didn't enforce that policy on SEO related articles, each article would soon degrade into a massive linkfarm. OhNoitsJamie Talk 13:34, 14 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
I have read it an it states that the blog should belong to a notable company Google.com in effect. Considering that [google webmaster blog] goes out of it's way to explain how google wants you to optimize you pages for SERP, and bring the best possible content to their clients I thought the link was appropriate. It is an invaluable resource which outlines search engine optimization even better then Googles Webmaster Guidelines. KooDating (talk) 15:32, 14 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
No. If you continue to add promotional material, you will be blocked from editing. OhNoitsJamie Talk 15:48, 14 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

User name issues

edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username (KooDating) may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it appears to be the name or similarly close to the name of a company website or product about which you have been editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may file for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you. Active Banana (bananaphone 20:21, 14 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please stop. If you continue to add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Koopa, you may be blocked from editing. --Orange Mike | Talk 21:28, 14 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Koopa, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 21:28, 14 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; you are welcome to create a new account with a username that represents only you. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline. If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}. Thank you.
