PKK

Hello, Kültigin and thanks for your polite approach. I support the PKK because, you see, in Turkey Kurds or others are not allowed to speak, talk, study Kurdish and Kurdish history when Kurds are 30% or more of the population; this ain't even minority if you think about the original ethnicity of the rest of the population. If we consider the current situation the Turkish government in law lets Kurds to speak their language and broadcast because of the pressures of EU BUT nothing has changed socially. Still there is Kurdish authors, producers, artists, Kurdish mayors and even Kurdish prosecutors imprisoned because of their ethnicity or their political views. You see most of what I know about Turkeys corruption is personal. I have lived there for years and seen how the army and police treat the Kurds. I've seen that the Turkification is a fact; my family members were tortured and prisoned for months because they were distributing a newspaper in their own language and because it was against the Turkish government. You've said "I just wonder what has PKK to support rather than killings and bombings?" but I would like to tell you that all the Kurdish (also other ethnicities concerning Turkification) uprisings and organisations were not welcomed by the Turkish government. I would also agree on Socrates's thoughts on democracy; in this case it is very true to say the democracy in Turkey is biased on other ethnicities. So, there is a lot of unfairness going on in Turkey towards others in my thoughts.

In conclusion, I believe Kurds are still treated very bad and I believe that everybody and especially the highest ethnic population to have no independent state should be free. I believe Kurds have the right to say NO! to be manipulated and controlled by another ethnic groups that is not treating them fair and equal. PKK is the single organisation to be able achieve this goal. Please note that I only support the PKK and I am not a member of it because at times it does use violence or retaliates. I believe in what Gandhi proposed and the Satyagraha but it's impossible to achieve such independence in the bloody Middle East.

I recommend you to look at Dario Fo and Harold Pinter's (Both Nobel Prize winners for Literature) thoughts on the issue and alot of history and politics books are available on this but you need unbiased books which I doubt you'd be able to find in the Turkish book stores. Hello, Kültigin I would like to start off by saying that not all Kurds support the PKK but I suppose most do although there isn't any source to back this. About your friends talking Kurdish on TV and the special schools in eastern Turkey to study Kurdish; You see the media is one the biggest problem in Turkey it seems to me it's all biased why is it that when there is millions of Kurds living in the country that the national channel (TRT) doesn't broadcast in Kurdish and why is it that all the Kurdish artists, authors and diplomats are restricted and send to F-TYPE prisons isn't all this good enough to proove that the media in Turkey is biased. There might be a couple of special schools for Kurds but distance and poverty makes it impossible to go and lets bare in mind that there is not much economic development to the east of Turkey which we can easily say it's inhabited predominantly by Kurds. Kurds in Turkey can vote under the ethnicity of Turkish- if you look at the identity card (kimlik) it says Turkish and Islam and for Kurds it has to be like that. About them been elected lets face facts: Leyla Zana. It will be a good idea to check why Kurds are running away to Europe and else where or maybe it's because you live in Ankara that you haven't seen anybody suporting the PKK but here in London, UK there is a lot of people who support them. About the other ethnicities lets talk about them who is there with such high population and haven't done something? Armenians? Greeks? Arabs? Bulgarians? these ethnicities all have countries and do not need a movement against Turkey. About the casualities it's not only the PKK it's the Turkish government too Semdinli and I told you my views on violence and if there was no violence in PKK I would probably join them now. The percentage been 25% or 30% doesn't really matter it's obvious that there is problem that need to be sorted. The true percentage of Kurds in Turkey is hiden.

Turkification aims to make everyone in Turkey Turkish and links and facts I've provided show that there is unfairness going on in Turkey. France and Turkey are way too different; in Turkey policy makers make laws for certain people. About you witnessing an ethnicity treated lesser than the other I can't say much. I told you that in law everything is the way it should be but in practice- socially people don't act right in Turkey.

I assume you agree labeling PKK as a terrorist organisation just like EU, Turkey, UK and US. I can't say much as I see them as freedom fighters against a fascist country and back their aim to establish an independent Kurdish state. Ozgur Gerilla 01:52, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Kurds are not limited in Turkey, expression of Kurdish identity and nationalism is. The problem is not with Kurds but relatively young Republic's fear of Kurdish seperatism. We had a Kurdish PM, Turgut Ozal, current Minister of Internal Affairs Abdulkadir Aksu is Kurdish etc. etc. etc. You are obviously an outsider to the problem and know only what you've been fed, unfortunately even people who live in this country are. I wonder if you'd join the PKK or you prefer poor ignorant peasants fight your good war or their kids. Because that's what PKK is, a gang of ignorant men controlled by invisible hands.
