Latest comment: 18 years ago by Randfan in topic Happy Halloween!

I am slowly recovering from my second major depressive episode of this year, so I will be only partially active on Wikipedia for the foreseeable future. Please forgive me if I do not promptly respond to your message. I promise to get back to you, eventually. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Please send your thoughts and prayers to Editor at Large, who is going through some difficult times of her own.

I love seeing that little bar that says "You have new messages."

I do ask that you follow some guidelines when leaving me a message:

1. Please be civil.

2. If I am not directly involved in a conversation, please keep your comments to your respective talk pages. Failing to do so may be seen as vandalism, and dealt with accordingly.

3. If you have said something on this page that you shouldn't have, and I have already read the message, don't try to delete it or hide it. It will still be present in the page history, and I will surely find out. Trying to delete or hide comments after I have seen them is like trying to hide evidence that others have already seen, and it suggests that you are being less than honest.

4. Please sign your messages by typing ~~~~ or by using the edit toolbar. The automated signature button is the one to the right of the crossed out "W".

If I feel that a response is needed, I will do my best to reply within 24 hours. If you expect a response and you haven't heard from me, please tell me.

Please understand if I do not respond immediately. Also please be understanding if I do not answer your message in the order that it was received.

I will ordinarily answer on your talk page, unless requested to do otherwise. Thank you!

Kyoko

Wikibreak

I'm sorry that Wikipedia is stressing you out, Kyoko! It's never good when that happens, but I hope your Wikibreak lets you relax from both Wikipedia and real life a bit. Sit back, and just enjoy life for a bit! -- Natalya 06:17, 29 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

That completely makes sense; there's no reason to spend time doing something that you're not enjoying. -- Natalya 14:15, 29 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Apology

edit

Sorry, Kyoko. I guess I should have looked on your userpage before I used gender-specific pronouns :-)

I hope things get better for you in real life! -- P.B. Pilhet / Talk 21:58, 29 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you

You're right; it is indeed a very valuable lesson to learn, and I don't feel hurt (I was asking for it). Hopefully I will have learned better from this.

There was also a vandal/attacker on your talkpage; I don't know if you saw but I was watchlist patrolling and quickly reverted it. Fredil Yupigo 22:50, 29 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I agree. And by the way, I meant to hide the discussion so it was like the Nathan discussion on AN two months back. I forgot how the parameters worked, so instead of the message that should've been there next to the show link, it looked blank. Addiction?

edit

Flaunt it, flaunt it!! Per Wikipedia:Wikipediholism, alternatives to cure section. Enjoy. BTW, if people have their conversations on your talk page, surely you'd be justified in deleting the conversation and telling them both to eff off as penalty for such incivility? Tempting, tempting...Moreschi 22:54, 29 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Following? Vaguely. It's been a great day for laughs - addiction et al. You might have reported them at WP:ANI, and they probably would have wound up with a reprimand for being WP:DICKs. Moreschi 23:16, 29 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks

Thanks for welcoming, me! Yet, wikipedia can be a stress reliever for some people. . . so, don't be too angry/sad if you are addicted to Wikipedia. ---- Bearly541 talk23:53, 29 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

re: Messages

Hey Kyoko, I don't know what to say. If I were in your place, I would have removed whatever wasn't relevant to my work on Wikipedia - that's what the talk page is for, after all. You gave them enough warnings, so you did what was necessary on your part. Will did well to remove it, but I guess he shouldn't have done it himself, seeing as he was involved in the situation.
I would just ignore it and get on with work. If you look at my 3rd archive, you'll notice a fair bit of nonsense involving a user who is now considered a sockpuppet of former banned admin, Karmafist. All sorts of drama and controversy, but I gave it a day, forgot all about it and moved on. We're here to build this encyclopedia, so problems with users should be ignored as far as possible. You do a lot of great work on all sorts of articles, so I suggest just staying away the people who cause you stress.
Personally, I came out of my funk with a bit of vicious RCP :) For some reason, dealing with vandals is sometimes a lot less stressful than dealing with the nice, well-intentioned ones...
Just let it go, and hopefully it'll all be OK in a few days. Will and Fredil are both pretty stressed out over the whole, horrible incident, so they're bound to let their guard down once in a while. Perhaps a private e-mail to tell them how you feel (e-mails always seem more... important, somehow, than messages on one's talk page) would help if something like this happens again. riana_dzasta 06:38, 30 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'll probably talk to Will on MSN tonight, and I'll drop Fredil a line (I've never met him, but hey, it's nice to meet new people!) riana_dzasta 06:52, 30 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
I'd agree with Riana dzasta (don't I always??). If it ain't relevant, cut it. It's over now, anyway. Talk page invasions really suck, though. Oh well. Just one of those moments when people confuse their dicks with their brains, I suppose. Don't get too stressed out by this - worse things have happened. Now that was a real pain. If you want something to take your mind off it for a bit, would you mind babysitting this article for me? I'm off on holiday for the next 5 days, and no wiki, which really hurts. See you round! Cheers, Moreschi 13:34, 30 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
lol, do you, Moreschi? Actually, we do seem to have similar !voting patterns on RfAs :p Call me Riana, by the way! riana_dzasta 00:38, 31 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

(←)Of course not, I just had to reply to that one, though :p I won't do it again. I haven't had a chance to get back to Will, I've been working on Uni assignments - and I'm off to uni in a few minutes, too - but I'll try to get back to him when I come home. Take care! riana_dzasta 00:56, 31 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Happy Halloween!

edit

I would have made a template, but a personal message seemed so much kinder. Have a nice Halloween in Montreal; unfortunatly I won't be getting any candy this year due to my four-hour long piano lessons, which go from 6 to 10 pm. Share a cookie with me :P Fredil Yupigo 00:35, 31 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Happy belated Halloween, sorry I forgot to wish you one! Randfan 00:24, 5 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I kept it large because I didn't know if you like it that way or if you wnted it smaller (I kind of liked it larger), but I'm glad you sized it the way you liked it. Happy Halloween, again! Randfan 02:21, 5 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Shout out!

Just saw your username and thought I'd drop a 'howdy' - just got turned on to Ghost in the Shell recently by a friend :-) --plange 17:11, 31 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've actually only seen some of the second season-- the person who was showing them to me liked the second season better I guess? I'll have to ask him! I've definitely enjoyed them so far, esp. the social and political commentary --plange 17:24, 31 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

lung tranpslant article might be ready Re

edit

Hi! Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, I've been putting off looking at the medical articles due to dealing with doctors and medical issues in real life (and running out of patience with both of them). Anyway when looking over the lung transplant article it looks excellent, there are a few things I could tweak and I'll get around to those (minor things though). I know you stated that you didn't know how to reference so you just put the citation in parenthesis... if you have the original links (where you got the info) I'd be more than willing to put them in the article. Anyway I also think you deserve this:

The Original Barnstar
In recognition of the incredible work you've done in bringing Wikipedia's lung transplantation article (and countless other articles) to fruition and bringing your knowledge to the wikipedia community I present to you this barnstar. --ImmortalGoddezz 19:28, 1 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Even though words do affect me the same as everyone else, it takes a lot more than them to emotionally hurt me. Don't ask; I developed this over time; you get bullied a lot when you're gifted. Fredil 01:39, 2 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. But being in an enhanced class helps. The only problem is that the total class population stands at 19 and there are 18 people of the male gender. This has led to some problems because our teacher is female (I'm sure you can imagine). Fredil 01:53, 2 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Lung transplant article, etc.

edit

I don't think "chastise" is the right word—maybe "correct" or another word I cant think of right now, but I think just about every Wikipedian needs to get it good every once in a while, and while I am trying to be very careful since this is something that happened to me instead of him, if you did lay it on too thick, I myself don't think it was by too much. (Now Will, if you read this, please know I'm not mad at you or anything similar.)

As for the lung trasplant—I only skimmed over it now before I'm going to bed, but it is certainly as good now as when it was in your sandbox, and can only be improved by the edits of those who know about the subject. :) —  $PЯINGεrαgђ  05:53, 2 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi again Kyoko and thanks very much for your message. Nice to be in contact again. I had a good time away, thanks, and am glad to be back, but as I said to user:Aminz I am going to try very hard indeed to limit my time on WP. Sorry not to have got back to you before - I was waiting till I had half an hour free to read your messages and think about them. So, I read the lung transplantation article. It's great that you put it online. It might really help someone whose life is touched by lung disease (having it themselves or someone they know having it). I didn't find much that I could improve or criticise since my medical knowledge is so limited. I did start on the references. You'll see that I put reference tags in with < and > brackets. Within those you can put more details. I don't have that much experience but I'd be glad to lend a hand in any way I can. Need to go offline now but will check you out again later today or tomorrow. All the best. Itsmejudith 07:06, 2 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I promise I'll review you sometime :) But in the meantime, you've done a seriously good job with the lung transplantation article (I'm not just saying that 'cause I like ya!). Well done - I'm genuinely glad to see that you aren't letting problems set you back from making brilliant contributions. riana_dzasta 09:43, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Still good to have the article - and it's an important topic, too. riana_dzasta 13:37, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

WP:ER

edit

I would honestly have nothing bad to say about you if you went up for an editor review. It's funny though; a lot of users have left/gotten banned during WP:ERs (like Minun). Fredil 02:36, 3 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey, it's editor review. Not RfA :) Hopefully people will review your editing, not silliness that people engage in on your talk page, which you handled quite well, I thought. Don't worry too much about it. riana_dzasta 04:00, 3 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sure, Kyoko, I'd love to. I'll try to fit it in sometime tomorrow, OK? Take care, riana_dzasta 15:19, 3 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much

edit

Thank you for brightening up my life these past few days. I honestly don't know what I would have done without you, and I know that I've been a bit idiotic. I could try to blame it on my mood these days, but that wouldn't be honest. So I want to apologize for that. You've taught me that Wikipedia is a great place to make new friends, and you're the best example it could ever have. So, with a smile and a hug, your friend, Fredil 02:25, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks...

For the welcome-back message: also for the babysitting. Much appreciated. We actually got some good weather in Dorset, for a change! Cheers, Moreschi 11:30, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the wishes, Kyoko! Here's a piece of cake for you :-) — Editor at Large(speak) 22:01, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Oh, yes. I don't like normal cake: I prefer lighter pastries (every birthday since my 11th I've had pumpkin pie) to rich cakes. But "Here's a piece of birthday mille-feuille for you!" sounds funny :-) — Editor at Large(speak) 23:04, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks!

Thanks so much for the welcome! I'm looking forward to learning more about how to help with Wikipedia. It was cool to see you've gone from Canada to the States...I am from Wisconsin, but now live in Ontario (other way around!).
