Dayton Mall article:
editHello. I am the individual who has composed the "other" DAYTON MALL article for Wikipedia. I did not delete the existing article, and repost mine -again- this time. I worked with the existing article, and tried to Wikify/format it so that it would be more grammatically correct. I also fixed a few details in the article.....Please read over it as it now stands....I think you will have to admit that it reads better.............
The article that you have put in the place of mine has had -as you will note- a "Please Wikify" tag. Obviously, there were a few things that (according to Wikipedia) were not entirely correct in your article. As it now reads, it should pass the Wikipedia standard. If left alone, the "Please Wikify" tag may just be removed.
Maybe this really doesn't matter in the long run.....but this particular shopping mall is near and dear to me. It was the very first "mall" I ever heard of or went to (wayyyyyyyyy back in 1969). At this time, it was still under construction, but was almost finished. The Rike's was open, as was a Hickory Farms of Ohio and the single-screen cinema. The Sears store still had a dirt floor and not much in the way of walls, even. By 1970, the original, 120 store, mall was finished. People in the whole area were kind of in awe of it. It was HUGE by just about any standard.
About the details I have changed in your article: Planning for the mall did not get underway in 1969. I was physically at the DAYTON MALL in 1969....it was almost completed by that year. So, we would have to say that planning got underway by 1967 or so (I said the mid-1960's in the article). I even (recently) contacted DAYTON MALL, asking for details, such as when ground was broken, how much the original mall cost to build, etcetera. I received a polite email from Mr. Michael Mimms, General Manager. He informed me that their archive "did not go back that far". Can you believe this?
Anyway......I use my own personal memories of DAYTON MALL to add details to our article, because Glimscher Realty Trust does not have (and does not really even care about) any information on the early years of THEIR shopping center.
At the 1970 grand opening, you would have had a Liberal supermarket....at the end of a hallway...to the right of the two-story main entrance (where the JC Penney now stands). Along the main, 2 level, entrance corridor, there was a Cassano's Pizza King, Doktor's Pet Shop, and Chess King (this was a hip-style clothing store....a fixture in all major shopping malls in that era).
There were two record stores (nope....we didn't have cds then, hee hee....it was either vinyl, 8-track or cassette). The primary music store was Camelot Music, which was about 3/4 of the way between Rike's and Sears (closer to Sears), in the mall's east wing. The other record store was going toward where JC Penney was (now Elder-Beerman). This record store was a small, little, cubby-hole of a place, right off of the big, main atrium area in front of Rike's (now Macy's). This store was a part of the Mayor's Jewelry Store. I can't recall whether the McCrory 5 & 10 carried records. If they did, I never bought any there. The selection must not have been all that great.....
At DAYTON MALL, in 1970, you could have bought -let's say- Sly & The Family Stone's new "Stand" LP for a, maybe $6. These "mall" prices were actually pretty high, though. At a G.C. Murphy -or W.T. Grant- store someplace else, you could pick up new LP's for 4 or 5 "bucks" each. I was mainly interested in buying "45" singles....which sold for a whopping 79 cents at "the mall" (they went for 69 cents at Murphy's or Grant's).
I hope my ramblings here ain't boring you.......it just shows how "into" nostalgic, "classic shopping mall" stuff I am. The DAYTON MALL was a MAJOR, big deal for me, a wide-eyed, 12 year old kid.....who was real interested in architecture and buildings and stuff like that. My step-father worked as an electrician, doing wiring during the construction of Rike's, Sear's and Penney's. He took me on an "insider" tour of the brand-new, Rike's store, right before it opened in '69. Our whole family life virtually revolved around "the mall", during the years 1968 to 1970.
......So.......please let our article stay as it is.......the article, as it stands, contains information that we both have contributed to create it. Can't we -finally- compromise here?

Accuracy
editYour tags on the G-Unit pages note that the author was warned against recreating them. There are in fact no such warnings on User talk:WEHaley. Please try to be more accurate on such things in the future. Without such warnings, reporting the user as a vandal is quite inappropriate. Fan-1967 19:16, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- The proper way to handle recreated articles is with the {{db-repost}} tag. Format is:
- {{db-repost|Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/G-Unit West Records}}
- User should be warned with the {{recreated}} tag. A user should only be reported as a vandal after ignoring multiple warnings. AIV should not be used lightly. There are too many genuine vandals, vandalizing articles, creating absolute garbage or attack pages. Fan-1967 19:22, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
Speedy deletion tagging
editPlease stop tagging articles for speedy deletion until you read Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion. Failure to meet WP:MUSIC or WP:NOT is not a valid reason for speedy deletion. I also note you have been trying to get categories deleted for the same reason, and then blanking them. This is also unacceptable. If you do not believe the articles should be on Wikipedia, please see the Wikipedia:Guide to deletion and use either WP:PROD or WP:AFD. Thank you. Proto::► 23:36, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

editI've removed your report at AIV, and warned L0b0t to not revert the article further. I've reverted to your version. That being said, you've edited here long enough to realize that wasn't simple vandalism and would not protect you from 3RR (where he reported you). I've noted that I'm warning both of you to not revert that article again. Ok? Syrthiss 18:12, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

Image tagging for Image:Dave_Mays.JPG
editThanks for uploading Image:Dave_Mays.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Image:Dave Mays.JPG
editThanks for uploading Image:Dave Mays.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Chowbok ☠ 20:11, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

producer list issue
editGreetings, I'm writing because I wanted to correct your info about producers not being signed to Aftermath. I work with the label, and I'm certain that Dre has production deals or had them with all the guys on that list. The aftermathmusic.com site also supports this, showing artists like Mark Batson and Dawaun Parker, who are part of the Aftermath production team currently. Dawaun Parker's bio on here also mentions that he has a production deal with Aftermath. thanks a lot and Merry Christmas to you and your fam. keep hip-hop alive! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.230.226.236 (talk) 04:53, 21 December 2006 (UTC).
I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Dayton Mall, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. Article Merge Conflicts
editI do not think what you're trying to do to the articles are considered even, or fair. These articles have already survived being tagged and argued for deletion. Whole point of making this seperate was, because Original Article, the Hip hop feud, was too big for individual article's growth. Merging will help neither of the topic. Please reconsider this idea and increase topic flow, length, and usefulness instead. K^ 18:31, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Little context in Wikipedia:Requests for comment/ 217.42.183.68
editHello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Wikipedia:Requests for comment/ 217.42.183.68, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Wikipedia:Requests for comment/ 217.42.183.68 is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Wikipedia:Requests for comment/ 217.42.183.68, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 23:26, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Please stop violating WP:TALK. As it says: "Talk pages are not for general conversation. Keep discussions on the topic of how to improve the associated article. Irrelevant discussions are subject to removal." Thank you. Gdo01 04:55, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

editFor such kind words. Truth be told, I'm getting a little tired of Wikipedia myself. It seems like so much work is being put into it and it's quickly being wasted by poor editing my users and vandals. But I won't give up the fight. Orphaned non-free image (Image:Thoughts of A Predicate Felon.JPG)
editThanks for uploading Image:Thoughts of A Predicate Felon.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 20:43, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Non-free use disputed for Image:Singer R. Kelly.JPG
editThis file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Singer R. Kelly.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 11:16, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:LaToyia_Figueroa.JPG
editThanks for uploading Image:LaToyia_Figueroa.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of African-American Republicans. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
