Welcome to Wikipedia

Welcome to Wikipedia! I just saw your edit on Prolog, and am checking to see if you are finding everything all right. I also want to direct you to this article, which describes what Wikipedia is about, and also this mentorship program. If you have any questions or problems, you can put {{helpme}} at the top of the talkpage, and then describe the problem/ask the question ----an admin or experienced editor will come by ---- or you can just ask me or your mentor if you should choose one. --Justpassin (talk) 02:24, 17 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I see you're removing a large number of red links. Are you aware of WP:REDLINK? Red links are acceptable for subjects that are likely to have articles in the future. Noroton (talk) 04:42, 25 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ah, now I understand. Best wishes, Noroton (talk) 06:09, 25 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Question from LadyEditor

edit

Hello! How do I respond to a message I received (the above one)? I wanted to ask a question/advice about the WP:REDLINK and if I was doing the "Project Red Link Recovery/Possibly Unwanted" correctly. (I check to see if the redlink needs an article, and if I don't think it does, I remove it.) Any other advice is truly appreciated. Thank you!

To respond to Noroton's message, click on the (talk) link at the end of the message. This will take you to Noroton's talk page where messages can be left for this user. You can then leave a message for Noroton in precisely the same was you posted this message. Every user on Wikipedia has a talk page, as do all articles. See Wikipedia:Talk page for more information about talk pages. One last piece of advice; when you post a message on a talk page, you should sign your comment by adding ~~~~ on the end. When you click save page this will be replaced with your username and the date of the message. This makes it much easier to tell who wrote what on talk pages. I hope this helps. Walker Books

edit

I see you have been removing links to Walker Books, presumably because it's been listed on Wikipedia:WikiProject Red Link Recovery/Possibly unwanted. I wanted to let you know that I've now created a Walker Books stub and included some reliable sources to try and show notability. I think it's a legitimate topic, but that may not have been obvious whatwith the article having been deleted in the past because of concerns over its content (advertising/copyvio). Obviously we have to make sure that the article doesn't violate NPOV but I think the topic is notable and does deserve to have its own article. As such I'm going to restore the links to it, but thank you for your efforts to improve Wikipedia. Oh, and I see you're new(ish), so welcome to Wikipedia! :) -- KittyRainbow (talk) 19:05, 25 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Earnest Sirrine

edit

A tag has been placed on Earnest Sirrine requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. BradV 21:03, 9 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hope you come back

edit

Hey, we noticed you haven't been around en.wiki for awhile, so you've been moved to the WikiProject Orphanage Inactive list. We hope you'll come back, move your name back to the active list, and get back to de-orphaning real soon! Aervanath (talk) 18:31, 31 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Articles for deletion nomination of Paul Sample (cartoonist)

edit

I have nominated Paul Sample (cartoonist), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Paul Sample (cartoonist). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
