Not in twinkle

edit

No idea why the pronoun warning templates are not include in the Twinkle drop-down but you can manually add that warning as needed. Sariel Xilo (talk) 19:37, 25 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! And thank you for adding a signature to the end of the template I posted. I'm used to my signature being added automatically, and I'm still generally getting the hang of using twinkle after adding it yesterday. I'll need to remember to use the tildes when I use twinkle.
And thank you for all the work on Erika Ishii, hopefully the vandalism stops soon and/or the page gets protected. LaffyTaffer (talk) 20:19, 25 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ah, I hadn't even noticed the dropdown until you pointed it out. That's a lot easier than what I did lmao LaffyTaffer (talk) 20:25, 25 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Francis Carpenter

edit

Hi, I apologize for editing your content I just want to clarify the area. I could not find any reference to where: "Following Lincoln's assassination, Carpenter produced "many" portraits of Lincoln and his family." Only the portrait on Lincoln's wife. (where are records of those paintings?) they must be extremely rare.

I could not find any reference to your quote: "One admirer of Carpenter's early work even wondered if a later portrait of Lincoln was a forgery." Also my question would be why say that. Everyone has their own opinion about art.

The paragraph that I wrote was from an evaluation of an original portrait of Abraham Lincoln's painted by Francis Carpenter in 1864. It was appraised by a prominent auction house Guernseys in NYC and an historian. They both evaluated it as being an original historical piece of art. I entered a paragraph in ChatGPT to correct the grammar, which is not my strong point. That was the paragraph that was constructed by ChatGPT. That's why I add that at the end. I would like to work with you to make this area accurate and positive to Honor the legacy of Francis Carpenter. Best regards Mark (Rowlz) Rowley Rowlz (talk) 17:05, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Rowlz, I don't know anything about Francis Bicknell Carpenter, I just came across your edit while looking through recent changes. I saw that you cited ChatGPT as a source, which is why I reverted your edits to the previous version from August. If you just used ChatGPT to proofread your edit, then there's no need to note that within the article, but it cannot be used as a source for where you find information on a subject.
It seems that you're knowledgable and passionate about the subject, and I think that would be helpful in improving the article. However, information on Wikipedia should be properly cited using reliable secondary sources. For your future edits, I think it would be helpful for you to take a look through WP:CITE and WP:RS
Thanks for following up, and I hope you enjoy editing on Wikipedia :) LaffyTaffer (talk) 17:16, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Also I agree that the previous revision is also lacking sources, so that section in general needs fixing. But as I stated, I don't know anything about the subject, so I will leave that to you or other knowledgable editors. LaffyTaffer (talk) 17:20, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the feedback. Yes I've been deeply involved in President Lincoln and the art work at the White House at that time period and I will write a proper historic paragraph. I subscribed to you and look forward to reading your articles. Thank you for your kind message. Have a nice day. Rowlz (talk) 17:58, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Blumhouse

edit

It's a quote from this video. (Sorry I don't have a timestamp.) I wish they'd just edit imdb instead.—Ineffablebookkeeper (talk) ({{ping}} me!) 16:30, 23 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Figured it was some channel like that, was punching the quote into google and getting no results. Thanks. LaffyTaffer (talk) 16:31, 23 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
33:50 in case that time stamp is needed at some point. LaffyTaffer (talk) 17:36, 23 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oh they're (pretending not to be) encouraging people to vandalize wikipedia pages with that quote, that explains why it's happening so aggressively. LaffyTaffer (talk) 17:38, 23 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

He passed away 2806:109F:1:A08F:99A:9E8F:DA55:6084 (talk) 03:50, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Please look through WP:BLP, you must cite a reliable source when adding that information to Orsino's article. This applies to anyone born in the last 115 years per WP:BDP LaffyTaffer (talk) 14:13, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

also on linkedin his family posted info on death 189.158.98.136 (talk) 17:52, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
From a cursory search, I think that may be a good enough source for his death (make sure it's included as a citation if you make that edit). However, I'm far from an expert on what sources are reliable or not, so don't take my word as gospel if another editor reverts it. LaffyTaffer (talk) 17:58, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
To be clear, I think the legacy.com link may be reliable. For his linkedin, you'll need to refer to WP:LINKEDIN LaffyTaffer (talk) 18:29, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Ad Orientem if you're revdel-ing all of the IP's vulgar comments, I think this edit would also need to be struck. Though I think the attack is funny enough that I'd like to keep the censored version here if that's alright. LaffyTaffer (talk) 23:48, 1 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
