Thanks for uploading Image:Loveisover.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. reference for nvidia on AIGLX

Hi! You put in an interesting bit about Nvidia not supporting Xgl and AIGLX yet. Could you also provide a reference? I read that forum post in a different way. They say that you can run Compiz on Xgl today, and that they plan to add support for GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap in a future driver release (so AIGLX could work too). Perhaps future doesn't mean next so it made sense to change the wording in the article, but how did you add Xgl to that discussion and turned this optimistic statement into "[T]hey will not add support ... until both projects have reached a certain level of completeness."? --TuukkaH 09:00, 23 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
I personally run XGL on my system, and the only way it works is if I use the generic MESA OpenGL libraries, which enables software rendering. AIGLX suffers from the same problems, and even moreso because the AIGLX extensions refuse to turn on at all without hardware-based direct rendering. It was hoped hardware acceleration from nVidia would be in the next driver release, and that forum post says explicitly that the programming extension necessary for hardware-driven OpenGL rendering won't be in the next driver release, but in later driver releases. Honestly, you're supposed to run Xgl with nVidia's current OpenGL library, as that's enough for Xgl and gives you hardware-accelerated direct rendering. Then you're supposed to run programs such as Compiz that need GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap with MESA OpenGL libraries, as that's what provides the extension and Xgl accelerates the requests. I think it doesn't matter which OpenGL libraries you use for the rest of OpenGL programs as the acceleration isn't direct anyway but done by Xgl. Anyway, Xgl doesn't need updates to nVidia's driver, but AIGLX does. --TuukkaH 23:02, 26 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
I realize that MESA works fine. But Compiz/AIGLX both need the extension not provided by nVidia yet. Thus it is not 'supported.' However, you were right about XGL not requiring new drivers to work, but that Compiz does. Changed accordingly. LainOfIICHAN 17:59, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
