Original research
editThat policy is enforced differently in different places, you should read over What counts as a reputable publication? within the policy to form your own ideas about how to apply it, particularly When dispute arises regarding whether a publication is reputable, you can attempt to get more editors involved and work toward a consensus. There is no clear definition, but don't ignore your intuition.. Most of all, remember WP:IAR! :) I think that the NOR policy is invaluable for controversial articles and a good policy for other articles. Take a look at some POV disputes at some point and try to source some of them :) - FrancisTyers 17:06, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
Right, thanks! --Lapin rossignol 17:08, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
- Hey, I read your discussion about the wikipedia policy, and I find it very interesting. You're exactly right. People should be free to choose what's history and what isn't. I live in Hong Kong, and I'm working on a project that might be up your alley. Would you consider talking about this some more? Zachkchk 08:18, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

NOR
editHi, I realize my comment, "if you don't like it, go elsewhere" sounds brusk. I apologize. I did not mean to offend you. I meant only to say that the internet has allowed for a great deal of experimentation and creativity, and there is a great variety of fora for expressing one's knowledge and views. Wikipedia is one such foum and has certain policies; Everything2 is another, with different policies. It honestly sounded to me like you would enjoy participating in that community more. However, I certainly did not mean to push you away from Wikipedia, and am sorry for the tone and effect of my comment, Slrubenstein | Talk 16:39, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
notability
editThanks for the support. Deletionists are in the midst of a campaign against articles of all types that they say are non-notable. This makes a lot of work for them, and a lot of waste for others re-creating stuff, instead of finding technological answers that would allow readers to filter out obscure stuff, if they want to. All kinds of things are on the chopping block, from music and advertising all the way to community services that some people desperately need. A huge amount of knowledge is at stake. How can we get the word out that this is happening? -- Marvin147 11:08, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:RouteShield.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:RouteShield.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

editHey Lapin, I remember posting a comment agreeing with your qualms about "NOR" and I thought you had some interesting ideas. If you get the chance please take a look at this citation policy post that I made. Thanks. -Snpoj 23:09, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

Please help
editHi! I got your username from the Association Inclusionist Wikipedians. I'm trying to work against a band of linkocrites (see en:User:cochese8). You look as if you're a valuable editor and I could really use some help [preserving] a great link. I would ask you to review the discussion and vote keep if you agree with the link's value. Thanks for your help! Cochese8 00:23, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
Help
editI was told by a user that you believe in a more inclusionist policy on wikipedia. I am having some trouble with an article some of us have been trying to write regarding a somewhat obscure holiday. If you agree it should be deleted, no big deal, but if you agree it should be included, I would appreciate any help you could offer in ending the AfD debate to keep the article. Thanks.

editFile permission problem with File:Pollock Halls.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Pollock Halls.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 01:30, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
