IPA Guide
editHello anarthrous Lazar! Thanks for your comments to my IPA Guide. I like the symbols you propose (they are, I think, the same you were using on antimoon) because they do resemble the transcriptions already used; but I would also say they have the same problems. (Why is "fairy" transcribed with the same symbol as "dress" when for "distinguishers" they are in different phonemes?) They also seem to make a strange suggestion: that "ferry" and "fairy" differ phonetically only in the syllabicity of the r-like element after the vowel (feh-ree vs. feh-rrrr-ee).--Gheuf 14:41, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Hello
editHi, this is Josh Lalonde, the one who's been asking you questions about vowel mergers on the Antimoon forum. I'm glad to know you're a fellow Wikipedian. If you need any help with a linguistics related article, just let me know; or if you're up for a challenge, you can try to help clean up the AAVE page. There's one problem editor, but we're trying to work around him. Thanks again for your help.Makerowner 05:02, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

editThe Anti-Vandalism Barnstar | ||
Thank you for your tireless work fighting the vandalism on Wittenberg. (Although I might suggest getting an Admin involved will be more efficacious than a constant edit war ;) )-- φ OnePt618Talk φ 05:09, 27 June 2010 (UTC) |
- Thanks! I did report the user, but I just couldn't resist undoing each time. --Lazar Taxon (talk) 05:18, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
- Just a friendly caution. The distinction between vandalism and a content dispute can sometimes be hard to judge. The repeated addition of unsourced material into a non-BLP article may lean towards the latter. Although not consistent with policy it is not vandalism. Rather than risk getting into trouble with the WP:3RR, it's better to request page protection (WP:RFPP) or seek assistance (WP:ANEW or WP:ANI), as OnePt618 suggests. If the other editor's actions are disruptive, that an be handled easily enough. That said, keep up the good work. -- Tom N (tcncv) talk/contrib 05:29, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
