Bottom halves in the Linux kernel

edit

Hi, on Interrupt priority level you wrote:

Similar to this are "bottom halves" and their successors in the Linux kernel.

What are these successors you write about? I am not able to google what, if anything, have succeed bottom halves in the Linux kernel? --Bjarkef (talk) 14:19, 29 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Oversampling

edit

On oversampling you wrote:

It is a cheaper way of achieving higher-resolution A/D and D/A conversion. For instance, to implement a 24-bit converter, it is sufficient to use a 20-bit converter that can run at 16 times the target sampling rate. Averaging a group of 16 consecutive 20-bit samples adds 4 bits to the resolution of the average, producing a single sample with 24-bit resolution.

While intuitively it makes sense, I'm curious if you have a reference to a formal proof or something? Just satisfying my curiosity. :) Cburnett 19:41, 7 Mar 2005 (UTC)

It's probably worth explaining this in more detail. In the meantime, the best I can do is refer you to the Watkinson book. In the edition I have (2nd), oversampling is explained in great detail from page 147 onwards. Ldo 09:54, 12 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Bruces sketch

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A {{prod}} template has been placed on Bruces sketch, by Otto4711 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}.

Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Grim Reaper Bot 07:07, 16 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Indonesia–Malaysia confrontation, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Kelabit (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of Event flag

edit

The article Event flag has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

not notable

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
