Functional temporalism's death

It is with much regret that I feel I should inform you that functional temporalism has passed away. However, the article put up a good fight to the end, finally slipping away at 00:21, 7 December 2009. This makes it exactly equal ninth place, I believe, in the list of longest Wikipedia 'hoaxes'. Actually I see that you have already become aware of FT's demise. However, you incorrectly state the date of creation of the article - 9 August 2007 - it was actually 8 August 2007, which makes it the equal ninth longest 'hoax'. I have corrected this oversight. AIV reports

Normally automatic reports coming from most Huggle users says in their edit summary : Reporting XXX using (HG) - though not sure if it is the case with you because for about 2 hours there is a severe server lag which prevent me to see contributions since 0200 UTC. Actually the site looks afully slow tonight for some reason. Maybe it's because it's Friday night?

The message is sufficient. Twinkle also has a similar message too when reporting vandals or requesting protection of articles or opening AFD discussions. As long as the user as being sufficiently warned (that means generally a level 4 warning - though registered users which are clearly vandal-only accounts and clear sock accounts or clear IP-hopping some person vandals are blocked sometimes before that. Changing subject, how did you find the New Zealand Herald article? I spent quite some time looking for citizenship information, with zero success.

Google News Archives. I typed in "Mike Rann citizenship" and spent about 20 minutes looking through the results from about 2002 I think. No, I haven't. It's particularly difficult to find, and it appears I've just dreamed up that controversy about his triple citizenship, as it has no coverage in the 'tiser's archives. Sorry about that, it's not your fault but mine. When I originally deleted that page it was as a copyright violation. Since then the page it was copied from has a CC3 notice so I restored it and removed the speedy tag. As I was restoring it for not violating copyright I didn't look to see what the speedy was. I have no problem if you want to tag it again as a G11 or A7 but I think it's probably best that another admin decides to delete or not. something lame from CBW 10:12, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

No worries, stuff like this happens. Just out of interest, can I ask what you did? It's just that if Twinkle screwed up, it may be worth letting someone know at the Twinkle talkpage. I've found that if you're using Chrome or Opera, sometimes Twinkle doesn't let you know whether the operation you've just performed was successful or not (which is why I use Firefox). Yeah, that's happened to me a few times. In my experience, when you run it in Opera, Twinkle brings up the little blue window, ticks off a couple of the tasks, and then appears to stop, while still completing the job in the background. It makes it look like nothing's happened, when in fact it's finished. Don't worry about it, it wasn't your fault. My advice? Use Firefox. -- Lear's Fool (talk | contribs) 14:18, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

RE: Brendan Carr (Actor)

Hi there, I spent allot of time last night working on the page for the living person Brendan Carr (Actor), I feel i have done a very good job, as nearly every paragraph now can be referenced to external links of meaning that back up certain claims made in each paragraph, before i just added links, NOW i have done Line Citations as it was requested, it took me nearly 2 and a half hours working out how to do it all.

I am Actually Brendan Carrs wife, so can confirm everything written in his wiki page is now true, there were a few things that were not 100% accurate,but all corrected now, we actually liked the original wiki write up so much we used it as his BIO on his Official website, i will add all this info to his bio and then this way i can use his bio on his pesonal offical website as a reference and citation as well then there will never be any problems with any of the articel coming from an unreliable source.

I have a few more Line citations to put in which will refer to news pages that back up Brendans wiki page.

It would also be nice to be able to add a photo (thumbnail) at the end of each paraggraph where ever it talks about his films, this way people who may not remember him being in that film becuase say at that time he had a shaved head they can then put his face to it. I have read the help info on doing this but can you guide me or advise me a little more on it and give me any other information tha may help me to get the page looking as nice as possible.

What do you think of the job i have done as proper first time contributor???

Hi there! Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, thanks for your work on the article. I'd like to work with you on improving it, but I just thought I'd point a few things out first.

Firstly can I ask what the relationship is between the accounts Bobbyboulder, Rosecrichlow and User talk:62.255.193.183? If you are using all of these accounts, then you should decide on one and stick to it. It can be quite confusing for one editor to use more than one account, so if I were you I would pick one (probably one of either Bobbyboulder or Rosecrichlow, see why here), and then leave a note on the userpage of the other one saying that you've used both.

This article is a biography of a living person (usually shortened to BLP), and so has to follow certain rules that are not so strictly applied to other articles in Wikipedia. The policy at WP:BLP outlines this in some depth, but I could summarise it thus: due to a combination of reasons (possibility of defamation suits against the Wikimedia Foundation, possibility of tarnishing a real person's reputation, etc.), BLPs need to be well referenced by reliable sources and written with great attention to neutrality. Now don't get me wrong, the work you've done is great, it just that if the article is to be improved further, these are the things that should be focused on.

The first thing I would say is that a few of the references you added aren't what would be considered reliable sources. Believe it or not, Wikipedia is not actually considered a reliable source, so it can't be used as a reference. If you want to cite something you've found in Wikipedia (as you appeared to do with The Grange School, Aylesbury), try to find where its referenced in that article, and then use that source as a reference. Also, IMDb is also not generally considered a reliable source (although the consensus on this is not entirely obvious), because it is not made entirely clear who is submitting the content, and what sort of editorial controls there are. For this reason, the article as it currently stands needs a few reliable sources to reference some of the information there.

On the topic of reliable sources, the article about The Grange School cites an interview with Brendan Carr conducted by the BBC (which is definitely a reliable source). I can't access it, but would you happen to have access to this interview, or any other interviews he's done with the BBC? That would definitely be useful.

Finally, I should just direct your attention to the guideline regarding conflicts of interest. If you are closely related to the subject of the article, you should be careful to guard against favorably biased edits or the appearance of impropriety. You're still allowed to edit the article, but it may be a good idea to declare your association on the article's talk page.

If you own the copyright to the content of the website, please follow the instructions at WP:IOWN, and add a note (quoting from the policy) "permitting reuse under the Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike 3.0 Unported License (CC-BY-SA) and the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) (unversioned, with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts) at the site of the original publication." (ie, on the website this information is taken from).

I should just point out, however, that there are a couple of other things you may want to consider regarding this article. Firstly, it is very important that information regarding living people is referenced by reliable sources, which usually requires (among other things) that the sources be independent of the subject. This policy, and the reasons for it, are discussed at WP:BLP. Secondly, you need to establish the notability of the subject of this article, so it may be worth having a look at the general notability guideline and the notability guideline for artists to see whether or not Manissha Khanna meets these guidelines.

I'm sorry if this is all a bit overwhelming, the page about writing your first article is often a good place for a simpler guide to writing your first article. I never researched it as such, I just came across it. I regularly do google news searches for any articles containing 'Mike Rann' and 'Isobel Redmond'. What annoyed me was the fact it kept getting removed when I only had the pollbludger cite. Yes wikipedia needs reliable sources for contentious material, but it's just so incredibly annoying when you know for a fact that something is true but cannot find a WP:RS. I don't know of and see no reason to think there are subdivisions within the dries.

There are 2 main groups in the SA libs. The rights/dries/conservatives and the wets/left/moderates. In addition to this some members of the SA libs are 'unaligned'

The Australian makes no mention of any Ian Evans family faction.

The Independent talks about the History of the 2 factions and how families have been in either one. It also makes reference to the "Evans faction" but I think they are referring to the same thing as the rights/dries/conservatives as Evans is a member of this faction.

Pollbludger is not wrong. The Libs don't have defined organisational factions, their factions are very much based around personalities (perhaps a reason why they've only managed to win 3 of 13 elections since the end of the playmander, and one of them was a minority government). It doesn't make sense to call it the Evans faction as he isn't in control. He is a player but not THE central player by calling the dries/conservatives/rights the 'Evans faction' is misleading and not supported by any solid facts. Pollbludger is just somebodies opinion and in this case misinformed opinion. Even the independent weekly which refers to a 'Evans faction' talks about how Evans is a member of the right. And there are not any sub factions in the dries.

Have you actually followed the SA Libs history since the end of Playford and the Playmander? Do you know who Stan Evans and Ted Chapman are? This is why it's called the Evans and Chapman family factions. It's all based around personalities. SA Libs and their adelaide hills hick dynasties... their past 40 years has been very comical. This and this... just in two articles, it exposes the embarrassing history of factionalism in the SA Libs right up to the modern day. Speedy Deletion

I'm working on providing that information, I haven't even been working on the page for more than a few hours! I really need this to last a couple of days, because it is for a project for school. You should give Wikipedia's notability guidelines a read, especially the guidelines regarding companies. The A7 criterion I'm referring to in the talkpage post means that if an article doesn't even make a claim to significance (let alone prove it), it should be deleted. I'm afraid this article doesn't say why Swype is important, and so it can be deleted under the A7 criterion. If the article gets deleted, but you wish to continue to work on it, you can ask for it to be [[WP:Userfication#Userfication of deleted content|undeleted and placed on a page outside the article namespace. You do it by adding ~~~~ to the end of your posts. It'd be great if you could try to remember to sign you posts, otherwise other people have to do it manually, which is a bit tricky. Okay thats now in the post. I need to go to bed its 3:15 am my time and I would really prefer to cite my sources tomorrow morning. Do you think the article will already be deleted by then? Thank you I really appreciate this, as I am new to Wikipedia, I don't want to break any rules, its just been frustrating that I can't even finish an article without it being targeted for deletion.
