Welcome
editHello, Leav5419 and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students.
If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}}
before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.
Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.
Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, if your class doesn't already have one. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}}
on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and aid your communication with them.
We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! Chris Troutman (talk) 01:13, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

edithi, that's a rather broad view you might be endorsing of alchemy, as C.G.Jung states, its only from the perspective of our modern, material world that anyone would ever describe alchemy as a proto-chemistry. You could read Frances Yates on Libavius where she states categorical that he is anti-Paracelsian, anti-Renaissance magus and anti-hermetic tradition of spiritual alchemy. It's chemistry Libavius is interested in, practical, strictly material laboratory techniques, a world removed from his contemporaries the spiritual alchemists Michael Maier, J.S.Mylius and Khunrath (who Libavius detested). The only laboratory they practised in was their own psyche and soul. Let it stand, but i think you will find it will be contested again, can't see what you want to acheive, i would be intersted to read something by Libavius which supported your view, have you looked through his, what all commentators admit, is misleadingly titled 'Alchemia' ? IT just makes the term 'alchemist' a catch-all meaningless description, Paracelsus for example WAS an alchemist , operating of both practical and spiritual levels. Can't quite see any sources in Libavius which discuss his proto-chemistry in spiritual terms yet, but that might be because he's a chemist, not alchemist ! I would appreciate if you could point me in direction of a text of his which is not just proto-chemistry but also alchemical in content. Cheers anyway Norwikian (talk) 21:40, 10 May 2014 (UTC) 21:40, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
