Recent results

edit

Hi, please don't add "recent results" or "forthcoming fixtures" to football club articles, as you did with Farsley Celtic A.F.C., as Wikipedia is not a news service. There are however many ways to expand and improve football club articles - you might want to take a look at some of our featured articles such as Arsenal F.C. for inspiration and ideas on style/layout etc. Please let me know if you need any further help or advice. Thanks. --Jameboy (talk) 22:11, 12 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Farsley Celtic

edit

I sympathise with the fact that the club are struggling, but Wikipedia is definitely not advertising space. I'm sure there are many things you can do outside of Wikipedia to help them raise funds. In terms of Wikipedia though, the best you can do is improve the article using reliable sources - I'm pretty sure that the better the article, the more people will read it. It may be more difficult to find information about a Non-League club, but if you have a look at the likes of York City F.C., Dover Athletic F.C., Margate F.C., Leek Town F.C. and Oxford United F.C., you will see that it is possible to get a Non-League club article up to a very high standard. Why not have a look at these articles and see if you can gain some ideas from them? If you are struggling for source material or have any other problems in getting started then you could try posting a question at the WikiProject Football talk page, where other editors who are interested in football may be able to help you. Cheers. --Jameboy (talk) 21:13, 13 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of James Knowles (footballer)

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article James Knowles (footballer), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Has not played in a fully professional league so fails notability requirements

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Speedy deletion nomination of Farsley AFC

edit

A tag has been placed on Farsley AFC requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. noq (talk) 19:33, 8 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Farsley AFC, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. noq (talk) 19:47, 8 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Farsley AFC page

edit

Hi

I was planning on setting up a new page for Farsley AFC (I've been editing the Celtic / Throstle Nest / Neil Parsley pages) and noticed you'd created a page which had been deleted by an admin. I've got them to restore it - they've stuck it under my user account for now - but they say we need to cite third-party references to the club before it can be published. Hopefully there will be some references next week after the NCEL AGM, so I'll try to get it back into circulation ASAP.

regards

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
