Speedy deletion nomination of The Medici Archive Project

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Medici Archive Project, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Dipankan001 (talk) 11:34, 31 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Medici Project

edit

The article was tagged for deletion by Dipankan001 (talk · contribs), so they may be in a better place to answer your query. However, when I checked the article before deleting it, my two main concerns were that (a) there was no evidence of notability - e.g. references to notable news sources and (b) it did read like a press release (particularly the fact that the article contained text that was hyperlinked to an external website (this should have been in an "External links" section at the bottom). The primary requirement is that you will have to show why this project is notable.

Also, when you leave messages on talk pages, please remember to sign by using ~~~~ Thanks, Number 57 14:03, 31 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

I see you have recreated the article, but it has several flaws:
  1. As advised previously, you should not hyperlink text in the body of the article to external websites
  2. Section headings require "==" placed either side, not just making them bold
  3. You need to categorise the article
  4. There should be no space between references
I have fixed several of these problems in this edit. However, the article still needs to be improved (the list of fellows is unreferenced) and I am still concerned that all the references you have used are books (apart from the one that is self-referencing) so there is no easy verification of the project's notability. You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Medici Archive Project, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". License tagging for File:Tacchi Bouchet Homage.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Tacchi Bouchet Homage.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. File:Tacchi Simplicio.jpg needs authorship information.

edit
Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:Tacchi Simplicio.jpg appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided),authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which:{{subst:usernameexpand|Leezk}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the {{own}} template.
  • If this is an old image, for which the authorship is unknown or impossible to determine, please indicate this on the file description page.

If you have any questions please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 23:32, 27 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi. When you recently edited Francesco Guicciardini, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Charles V, Francis I and Siege of Florence (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi, and thanks for responding - as you might have seen on the request linked above, if Andrea Tacchi can send an email releasing all images you uploaded for them with a free license (see WP:CONSENT for a template, and check your uploads for full URLs to the files), that would be great and it would get around the confusion that exists at the moment. Each Wikipedia is separate, with its own rules and customs. You will simply have to post the article yourself at the Italian Wikipedia. There is advice at WP:Translate us about translating articles from English.
As you blanked the Italian text here, I have deleted it - if that was a mistake, let me know. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 18:00, 29 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:James Joseph DeMartis.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading File:James Joseph DeMartis.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
