editHi Leftred! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of an article several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.
All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:32, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
- I have also started a topic on the Talk page for the Article. I would hope that any further changes back to "Ayers" can be avoided.
- As I have stated, his name is 100% Eyers. John Eyers and his Brother-in-Law William Creed are direct descendants of mine, my mother's maiden being Eyers. Both were helmsmen on the ship and William lost his life that day. However I know this can not be used to cite, hence why I have now provided two contemporaneous newspaper articles as reference for the change. One includes details of his experience on the Thames.
- Certainly he did no have experience of the Princess Alice type of vessel, however he was of 18 years experience on the Thames between Erith and Gravesend as a Waterman. A trade that a great many Eyers would go on to do, including his Grandson who was my maternal Grandfather.
- I certainly do not intend to get drawn into an edit war. However, this is correct information that is being removed from the site and reverted to incorrect information. Leftred (talk) 20:42, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
- Again, thank you for the guidance. Always appreciated. Leftred (talk) 20:43, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
