  Guideline and policy news

  • An RfC has closed with a consensus that candidates at WP:RFA must disclose whether they have ever edited for pay and that administrators may never use administrative tools as part of any paid editing activity, except when they are acting as a Wikipedian-in-Residence or when the payment is made by the Wikimedia Foundation or an affiliate of the WMF.
  • Editors responding to threats of harm can now contact the Wikimedia Foundation's emergency address by using Special:EmailUser/Emergency. If you don't have email enabled on Wikipedia, directly contacting the emergency address using your own email client remains an option.

  Technical news

  • A tag will now be automatically applied to edits that blank a page, turn a page into a redirect, remove/replace almost all content in a page, undo an edit, or rollback an edit. These edits were previously denoted solely by automatic edit summaries.

Would you object to a new GA bot?

I gather from GA regulars that you're no longer actively working on Legobot's (enormously useful) GA features. Would you mind if I posted a query at BOTREQ to see if anyone would be interested in either replacing that function of Legobot, or taking it over, if you've made the code public? I can understand if you don't have time to improve the bot, and this might allow us to get a couple of enhancements and bugfixes. (talk page watcher) @Mike Christie: I can't speak for Legoktm directly, but if Wikipedia:Bots/Noticeboard/Archive 10#Looking for new maintainers of RfC & GAN related Legobot tasks is anything to go by, the answer is probably yes. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 13:15, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
Yes, that would be welcome. The code is all public and GPL licensed. I had put out a similar call earlier but nothing changed for reasons I don't remember... Legoktm (talk) 05:33, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
OK; I've posted a request. Thanks. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 09:42, 7 February 2018 (UTC)

() I'm interested, but with issues. I'm a hobbyist with Python and have recently started using (and enjoying, after initial struggles) Javascript to write a fork of one of Ucucha's script. Don't know PHP, don't know CSS, don't know a thing about bots. I could learn PHP/CSS and tweak the existing code, but how would I test it? I wouldn't want my initial fumbling efforst to hose up GAN.
