Aviation articles

edit

Hi, nice article on the Kanya. If you want to write more articles on aviation subjects, you can make your life easier by using Template:WPAVIATION creator. This does all the nausea for you and delivers articles to a standardised format. Happy editing!--Petebutt (talk) 04:37, 9 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Your edits to List of airports in the Delaware Valley

edit

Hi, I know that I am a newbie here on Wikipedia (recently registered) but I think the purpose of the List of airports in the Delaware Valley article is for active not historical airports so I removed from Camden Central Airport from the list along with Bader Field and other historic airports. IKnowTheWayToSanJose (talk) 00:02, 9 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the heads-up, but the very first sentence of the article reads "...current and historic..." so defunct airports are fine in this list. I've reverted your deletions. Lestocq (talk) 01:26, 9 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Okee Dokee, like I said I'm new to Wikipedia so I appreciate you letting me know. IKnowTheWayToSanJose (talk) 03:16, 9 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

I very much envy your having flown in both a DH 84 & an 86. The Dragon Rapide is one of my favorite aircraft TheLongTone (talk) 14:58, 16 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

I flew in Dragon G-ADDI when it was in its red and white Chrisair colours, from Rochester Airport back in 1964 - my second ever flight. The Rapide was G-AIDL from Lydd in 1996. I had the front right seat and was able to look forward past the pilot as well as out of the side window. Happy days! Lestocq (talk) 15:18, 16 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
I've been thinking about the edit of mine that started this... it occurred to me that Royal Aircraft Factory designs are highly unusual in that none of them have names, only numbers. Odd. TheLongTone (talk) 14:25, 17 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
We should probably be grateful - we'd be more confused if the RFC had given them names. You know where you are with a P-40, a DH.82 or an Bf 109 (the well-known Me 109). But then we have the EH101 Merlin, or is that Cormorant or AW101? Or the Globemaster - is that the C-74, C-124, or the one that came later, the C-17, obviously? I've decided not to get bogged down in all ths, and go for a little lie down.Lestocq (talk) 16:25, 17 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
I am of the contrary opinion: you know where you are with a Sopwith Soupdragon or a Bristol Bagpuss...TheLongTone (talk) 15:10, 23 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Great work on this article. There's surely a place for his modest 'Mine's a small Bass' after the schneider win. I think it speaks volumes about the man... I'd add it myself but all my books are in cardboard boxes at the moment.TheLongTone (talk) 12:48, 20 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Agreed - done - thanks! Lestocq (talk) 13:21, 20 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
And the cutaway of a boxkite is a great find, I'll look for a place to put it on the Boxkite page. Roy Cross couldn't find much to actually cut away, could he?TheLongTone (talk) 11:43, 22 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
I could hardy believe my luck when I saw that it was Public Domain on Flickr - such a good hi-res scan. I've already added it to the Roy Cross article. Lestocq (talk) 12:16, 22 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
