Harry Dutfield
Hey man, not to rain on your parade (I've had this done to me), but Dutfield did not make an appearance in a fully professional league. The rules about the Southern League prior to 1920 seem to be a bit loose, but generally if a pre-1939 player doesn't appear in Joyce or if they didn't win a full international cap, they're not considered notable and shouldn't have an article. There've been debates that the pre-1920 Southern League was the Football League's equal, but it's not considered a fully professional league on here, hence it's not on the list. There are occasions when a player, who while they never made an appearance in a fully professional league, is notable, because they made an FA Cup appearance for a club that was playing in a fully professional league, versus a club that was also then playing in a fully professional league. Just thought I'd speak up as it's best you don't use up time making up articles that could be swiftly deleted. Technically Dutfield should be deleted, but I didn't want to put a delete template on it until explaining it here. Dying in WW1 does not make him notable. Cheers! - @Beatpoet: I used to think the same thing, until I tried deleting two pages about Southern League footballers (the AFDs are here and here). There's now precedent to say that the Southern League (or at least the First Division, in which Dutfield played) was professional. Lettlerhello 20:47, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
- Interesting, I see they still haven't updated Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Fully professional leagues though, hence the continual discrepancies over whether the SL was pro or not. In those debates you linked, while I haven't read every word, they don't appear to have mentioned something that's come up in debates I've previously sparked off (which has always resulted in no consensus), where a club like mine (Brentford) had some years in the SL during which it was not fully professional and I imagine some SL First Division clubs were the same. Beatpoet (talk) 17:38, 19 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Beatpoet: It's stated in History of Brentford F.C. (1889–1954)#Second Division (1898–1901) that Brentford became a professional club during the middle of the 1899–1900 SFL season, with a reliable source to back it up. I'm not the expert on Brentford history, but it would seem that Dutfield was professional. Lettlerhello 17:50, 19 August 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah, I wrote it ;) Nah I'm not talking about Dutfield, I'm talking about the football "moderators" taking ages to get together and update certain things, such as Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Fully professional leagues. Beatpoet (talk) 18:15, 19 August 2020 (UTC)

The article David Blunt (footballer) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Both clubs this fellow has played for don't meet WP:NFooty - see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Football/Fully_professional_leagues
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Whiteguru (talk) 08:46, 12 September 2020 (UTC)

James Brennan (footballer)
Hello. I may be missing something obvious somewhere, but I can't see any source for your addition of 32 league goals for Africa Royal. Where did you find them? cheers, Struway2 (talk) 13:45, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
- It is noted here. I didn't see the purpose of adding a citation in the infobox, but I will cite it if you want me to. Lettlerhello • contribs 13:48, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks. An awful lot of subtle vandalism is stats-related, and some editors would remove unsourced numbers on sight even when added by a clearly good-faith editor like yourself. That source says he got 32 goals just in the 06/07 season, not for his whole time with the club, so maybe add a sourced note that says it only applies to 06/07? cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:06, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
Teo Macero
The edit summary says, "Adding local short description: "American jazz saxophonist, composer, and record producer", overriding Wikidata description "American jazz saxophonist, composer, and record producer". Maybe you can explain to me how this is an improvement.
Vmavanti (talk) 22:54, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Vmavanti: I imported a short description from Wikidata. As the short description was already sufficient, I didn't edit it. See WP:SHORTDESC. Lettlerhello • contribs 23:00, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
