COI/Civility warning
editLiraz, while you may have a point with some of what you've written about the conflict between you and another editor, you should not touch the conflict with a ten-foot pole.
You may not realize that others with no idea of the history and the specific facts will look at this and judge you, not in the historical substance, but simply that you appear to be attacking an experienced editor, and you are a COI editor and expected to be biased. It's not a fair contest. COI editors and SPAs always lose if they get into a pissing match.
But if you simply sit on your responses, and let others defend you and address the issues, you will find it works much more smoothly. Your invitation to the other editor to work with you was fine, and I believe that was sincere.
As to "breaking laws," don't take the bait! Step aside and let it fly past you. The editor is not a criminal prosecutor, and no criminal prosecutor would listen to him. His comments here about that could indeed cause some consequences to fall on his head, not yours. He's not open to being warned. So let him take the consequences of that, not you.
Neutral comments, like your mention of the error made by the journalist, are fine. The discussion of the logos was a useful point, and ultimately, I believe, this can be resolved. We might even do a kludge: two images. A small logo of the application, another logo below it, the TurnKey logo. There are editors who specialize in this copyright and trademark stuff. So there would be all those individual application images, and then your image below them. Or the combined image, and there should be a way to arrange for that as well.
There is usually a way, if the goal is legitimate.
- Thanks Abd. You're right. I'm no longer emotionally neutral with regards to Sam and I think I'll just have to force myself to back off for now. That's hard to do when you're being attacked but my continued involvement is merely adding fuel to the fire. The drama draws sucks you in even while you're repulsed by the waste of it. - I see below that an AN/I report has been filed. If asked by any administrator, here, to answer a question, I recommend you answer. I do not recommend you respond on AN/I. I was about to file a report, so I'm considering myself an originating party, it's necessary at this point for me to respond because of hazard from appearances being allowed to stand. Most would read the report and see fairly quickly what's going on, but you never can tell. --Abd (talk) 04:26, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
Warning. Do Not Edit TurnKey Linux Virtual Appliance Library
editStop. Period. Some time in the future, maybe you can make spelling corrections! Removing the tags, no, no, no. If you do this kind of thing again, I'd have to withdraw all support. Follow WP:COI strictly. I really wish you had not done that! Here I am busy writing evidence for the AN/I report, then I see that you went and did that!
You don't know what you are doing. Get that! I don't have time to explain it now, but I will, later.
On the other hand, at least you were civil! --Abd (talk) 04:10, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
- Got it. Thanks for the heads up.LirazSiri (talk) 02:56, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
- You know, Wikipedia is such a fascinating social experiment. It has its own legal system and culture. Like a virtual nation of sorts. I don't consider myself a total stranger to the system yet still I occasionally make a mistake that leaves long-timers like you shaking your head. Like an overgrown baby! Good thing we have people like you providing adult supervision. Thanks for all the help. It's appreciated. Cheers. LirazSiri (talk) 04:50, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Attempted outing
editBringing up speculation about another editor's real name on Wikipedia is a serious violation of Wikipedia's policy against harrassment. I have blocked you indefinitely from editing Wikipedia pending your response.
Any admin reading this talk page may unblock LirazSiri if s/he acknowledges that s/he understands the problem with such edits, and is aware that any further violations of the harrassment policy will result in an indefinite – and likely permanent – block. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 00:35, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
- I have protected your talk page, since you insist on continuing to attempt to out another editor. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 00:53, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
Unblocked
editHi Liraz,
I'm lifting your block, as it doesn't look to me (or some others who have had a peek) that you were attempting to "out" Guy, and the block was thus uncalled for. However, you should really stick to just referring to people by their WP usernames (or what they have as their signature) unless they specifically tell you to do otherwise.
I can certainly understand your disappointment in what happened here, but your immediate reactions made things worse, not better.
Please have a look at WP:AN#LirazSiri, maintaining at least the appearance of a very cool head when you reply ;-). For now I think it would be wise to not edit that article until the AN discussion is concluded.
If you really need to vent, I suggest doing so on Wikipedia Review rather than on the wiki (you'll undoubtedly be instructed to laugh at yourself), as venting here will simply escalate matters. --SB_Johnny | talk 13:55, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
- Good advice, Liraz, and congratulations on your unblock. It's up to you whether being unblocked is better than being blocked or not! One step at a time, take it easy, first things first, and don't take any wooden nickels. --Abd (talk) 17:12, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
