priority parameter in {{WPBiography}}

Should this bot really be adding blank |priority= parameters to {{WPBiography}} banners? It's not so much a concern if the bot is doing other things as well, but to edit a talk page merely to insert a blank parameter seems rather fruitless and trivial, and not the sort of thing a bot should be doing en masse. That feature was added by request from Magioladitis, the idea being to encourage people to assign it a priority. Matt (talk) 02:53, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
Be that as it may, I still find this task rather dubious. Is the bot adding the parameter to banners which do not have any work groups assigned? PC78 (talk) 09:41, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
I suggested that |priority= is added when missing in the case that more things have to be done in the banner. I think we have to forma a list of which changes are necessary and which are welcome. Anyway, even as id ListasBot is doing fine job till now. In the next 2-3 days all biography banners will be in good shape and this is wonderfull. I think we have to use Mikay's talk page for this dialogue. Above comments forces ListasBot to stop operating. -- Magioladitis (talk) 11:09, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
I don't follow; this would seem to be the appropriate place to discuss the actions of this bot. In relation to my above query, I see that it is ([1] & [2]) and this at least should stop; priority ratings only apply to work groups, not the project as a whole, so to add the parameter to banners with no assigned work groups is redundant. Well, the whole idea behind this particular bot function was to clean up WPBiography and get it into a standardized format across all biography pages -- e.g., getting rid of parameters that didn't need to be there, and putting ones in that should be there. For that reason, I disagree with "only make this edit when there's some other change to be made". However, if you're telling me that priority ratings only apply to workgroups (and the {{WPBiography}} documentation would seem to agree with you on that), then I can modify the behavior so that it only adds a priority parameter when one of the *-work-group parameters (or core) is set to "yes". Is that acceptable? Matt (talk) 18:23, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
If you could, that would be great. Not core articles, though. PC78 (talk) 22:51, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
  Done. Matt (talk) 01:01, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

I've been mostly off-wiki for the last few weeks and returned to find that this bot is clogging up my watchlist by adding blank priority parameters. I don't think this is necessary at all when this is the only change that is being made to the talk pages, and it is not listed as one of the tasks for this bot on its userpage. I strongly encourage you to disable this "feature" unless other changes are being made to the talk page. Karanacs (talk) 16:27, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

My apologies that it's clogging up your watchlist. Do you have your watchlist set to hide bot edits by default? The intent of having the bot add a blank priority parameter is to encourage people to give it a priority. It is actually covered by ListasBot 2. Matt (talk) 17:05, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
