Category:CS1 errors: markup
editPlease fix this bot.
Category:CS1 errors: markup currently has three pages, all of which are maintained by this bot:
- Wikipedia:Equity lists/Gender
- Wikipedia:Equity lists/Medical condition
- Wikipedia:Equity lists/Sexual orientation
The pages are listed in the category because some cs1|2 templates in the bot's contribution use italic markup where that markup does not belong. In the cases that I looked at, the bot appears to be fetching the citation elements from wikidata and applying italic markup to whatever it thinks is the work parameter. For example, this citation appears to get the value for |website=
from wikidata Q117337737 → sex or gender (P21) → stated in (P248) → [[:d:Q1641941|Dazed]]
But then, the bot improperly adds italic markup in |website=
:
{{cite web|url=https://www.dazeddigital.com/art-photography/article/57470/1/chai-saeidi-lgbt-photograph-scandinavia-s-ballroom-scene-norway-stockholm|title=A photographer’s journey through the Scandinavian ballroom scene|website=''[[:d:Q1641941|Dazed]]''|access-date=2023-03-30}}
which causes Module:Citation/CS1 to emit an error message when it renders the citation:
- "A photographer's journey through the Scandinavian ballroom scene". Dazed. Retrieved 2023-03-30.
{{cite web}}
: Italic or bold markup not allowed in:|website=
(help)
The bot should not be adding italic markup to any of the |work=
parameters (|journal=
, |magazine=
, |newspaper=
, |periodical=
, |website=
, |work=
) the responsibility for styling lies with the cs1|2 templates, not the bot.
This is not a new problem. At Wikipedia:GLAM/Smithsonian Institution/SAAM Artists, various editors have 'fixed' the markup in that page to get it out of Category:CS1 errors: markup. Please fix this bot so that these pages do not live in the category forever. See User talk:ListeriaBot § Wikipedia:GLAM/Smithsonian Institution/SAAM Artists.
Please fix this bot.

edit@Magnus Manske Can you modify shared.inc to use {{#invoke:Cite web||
and {{#invoke:Cite journal||
instead of {{Cite web|
and {{Cite journal|
? It would greatly reduce the post-expand include size on huge pages like Wikipedia:Equity lists/Ethnicity. --Ahecht (TALK

- Listeria doesn't use
{{Cite journal|
apparently, but I applied the{{#invoke:Cite web||
fix. --Magnus Manske (talk) 13:05, 16 July 2024 (UTC)- Ahh, I was looking at the bitbucket repo, but I guess that's an older version. Thanks! --Ahecht (TALK
