Steiner and O.T.O.

edit

Steiner accepted an O.T.O. charter from Theodor Reuss in 1905 or 1906 which licensed him to work as head of a national lodge called the Mysteria Mystica Aeterna. This was before Crowley joined O.T.O. By way of comparision, Crowley's charter was for a national lodge called Mysteria Mystica Maxima. I understand that Steiner claims to have broken off the relationship with Reuss and the O.T.O. later in 1906; however Steiner continued to use the "Mysteria Mystica Aeterna" nomenclature until 1914.

I understand that there is some argument that Steiner's charter does not have "O.T.O." printed on it but rather is a charter for the Rites of Memphis-Misraim, but the same was true of Crowley's O.T.O. charter. The O.T.O. was formed in 1895 and O.T.O. purchased a charter for the Rites of Memphis-Misraim in 1902. From that point on, any Memphis-Misraim activity performed by Reuss was under the auspices of O.T.O. though he continued to use printed material (i.e. charters) that he purchased along with his charter. See [1] (last paragraph) and here. The latter has the text of the announcement of Steiner's charter in the Oriflamme, the O.T.O. newsletter of the time:

Bro. Dr Rudolph Steiner, 33º, 95º, of Berlin and the Brothers and Sisters associated with him have been granted permission to form a Chapter and Grand Council under the title 'Mystica Aeterna' in Berlin. Dr Steiner has been appointed Deputy Grand Master with jurisdiction over members already received or to be received by him. Sister Marie von Sievers (later Steiner's wife) has been appointed General Grand Secretary for the Lodges of Adoption.

Hope this helps clear up the matter. Steiner was never a member of Crowley's O.T.O. but was a member of the original Reuss O.T.O. before Crowley joined it. -999 (Talk) 15:01, 13 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Steiner was never a member of the O.T.O.; see here and here. The O.T.O. and the Rites of Memphis-Misraim were distinct organizations.

Ellwood, see above reference, claims that, "For a few years after 1906 he (Steiner) was also a member of the Ordo Templi Orientis [OTO]. BTW Can you please sign your posts? Morgan Leigh 05:05, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Editing Waldorf education

edit

One is free to edit the Waldorf education article, but be aware that there is intense scrutiny of content being objective and verifiable. If there is a citation, the item should not be removed; if you see claims that need verification, a first step might be to tag the claim with the {{fact}} tag requesting supportive citations. Adoption Offer

edit

Hi there,

I would normally be happy to adopt you - but before I do so, I have a couple of issues about Anthoposophy. As you may or may not know I am the mentor (under WP:ADOPT) of Pete K and DianaW who are "Waldorf Critics / PLANS" members and are active on the area of Anthroposophy and Waldorf Education, as well as trying to help mediate the discussion on these pages.

Now as the majority of your first edits are on these subjects, you may see that there is a potential Conflict of Interest in me taking on another Adoptee/Mentee who is editing the same articles. I am happy to give advice on the editing of Anthroposophy related articles, but I will do this in a general sense on the talk pages concerned.

If you wish for me to Adopt you so I can help you on non-Anthroposophy issues for example chemistry and DME then I would be happy to do, but such an adoption I feel should exclude extensive talk on Anthroposophy. Alternatively you could look for another Adopter - start at WP:ADOPT for how to do this. Either way I do not mind, but I look forward to hearing from you. Cheers Lethaniol 15:13, 25 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Okay, I happy to Adopt you then :):) So the only thing I do not really want to discuss is policy/procedure/conflict on the Anthroposophy article. Of course if there is a technical question about how to do X or find Y I can always answer them. So fire away - add any questions to my user talk page, and I will answer as soon as I see them Cheers Lethaniol 10:57, 26 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

New Section Headings

edit

Hi there,

Better if you leave a message on my user talk page (User talk:Lethaniol) rather than email me. To do that there is two ways either click on edit this page, scroll to the bottom and add a section heading (will explain this in a moment) or click on the + button (both these buttons are at the top of the page). With + button you do not have to add a title manually - what ever goes in the Edit Summary will be the title:):)

With respect to making Section Headings you have to write something like this:

===This is a tier three section heading===

Which makes this:

This is a tier three section heading

edit

The more = the higher the tier level. This must be used on articles to make new sections.

For other useful editing tricks see Wikipedia:Cheatsheet Cheers Lethaniol 22:37, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi there,

I see that your work on Dimethyl ether has got some attention - check the history for the differences, need to find those citations to back up your statements.

With respect to wikilinks - read up here to find up more info Wikipedia:Manual of Style (links) - but I will give you the basics.

There are two types - simple for example [[London]] produces London.

And piped - for example [[London|a big city that smells]] produces a big city that smells.

Note both link the article on London but the piped gives text that is of your picking. Hope that sorts you out. Cheers Lethaniol 12:51, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

P.S. if you ever see something where you think - oh that is cool I wonder how they did that - just click on edit and check the wikicode and all should become clear - remember though not to save :):)

Formula

edit

Right if you want to use mathematical formula then wikipedia has special code for this see Help:Formula. For writing basic chemical you can use normal wiki markup for example see the basic chemical reactions written in type at Ethanol#Chemistry. For more complicated chemical reactions you will obviously need to use chemical drawing software - and then export the image into Wikipedia. For example a reaction that uses such an image, look at Mitsunobu reaction, a reaction that I was actually working on today at work :).

For chemical drawings you really need to use some good software. I have access to ChemDraw Ultra and so if you have any trouble just ask, and I should be able to knock it up for you. For the diagram of processes that you want to use that also should be fine if of high enough quality. Furthermore before you even think about uploading an image read through carefully Help:Image.

If you have any questions just ask (I am sure you will :) ) - these sort of technical issues can be quite tricky at first with a steep learning curve. Cheers Lethaniol 23:23, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Outdoor Equipment

edit

Sorry for my slow reply on this issue, I have been mulling over in my mind how you should approach the notability issue. Please read in detail WP:NOTE before even thinking of starting on these pages. I think you are right though, articles on the most important/ground breaking of products would be good. I want to go and read up a little more around Wikipedia to get a feel of the notability requirements that will be needed, but I suggest you do two things:

  1. Start by writing articles on the companies/brands involved. For example there appears to be nothing for Terra Nova yet = see the disambiguation link.
  2. For brands with articles already e.g. Bibler now taken over by Black Diamond Equipment, help bring the article up to scratch. Then instead of making a new article on Bibler tents, make a subsection of the main article. If it gets to the point where the article should split this information off then it will be much easier to do so.

So Basically concentrate on the brands/companies first, then on the products within. Hmm I will think a little more on this, and get back to you. Cheers Lethaniol 12:28, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:Terra Nova Quasar Tent.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Terra Nova Quasar Tent.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Goetheaneum

edit
Hey Goethean, building such a large and significant structure as a memorial to Goethe seems important enough to me to put it in the Wiki about J.W. von Goethe; could you explain to me why not? Lkleinjans 08:14, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

The relative historical importance of Steiner's building is a matter of opinion. And it is an issue on which the opinion of Steiner advocates differs greatly from the rest of society. That said, I have added a reference to the Goetheaneum into the article. But honestly, I'm not sure that it improves the article. — goethean 14:37, 10 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Terra Nova Equipment Logo.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Terra Nova Equipment Logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 19:05, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
