Hi Loco085, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your contributions to the coolest online encyclopedia I know of =). I sure hope you stick around; we're always in need of more people to create new articles and improve the ones we already have. You'll probably find it easiest to start with a tutorial of how the wikipedia works, and you can test stuff for yourself in the sandbox. When you're contributing, you'll probably find the manual of style to be helpful, and you'll also want to remember a couple important guidelines. First, write from a neutral point of view, second, be bold in editing pages, and third, use wikiquette. Those are probably the most important ones, and you can take a look at some others at the policies and guidelines page. You might also be interested in how to write a great article and possibly adding some images to your articles.

Be sure to get involved in the community – you can contact me at my talk page if you have any questions, and you can check out the village pump, where lots of wikipedians hang out and discuss things. If you're looking for something to do, check out the community portal. And whenever you ask a question or post something on a talk page, be sure to sign your name by typing ~~~~.

Falkland Islands

The image might be more appropriate in Falklands War, but yes, it's not a terrible image, and it was a terrible shame that so many men died, particularly the Argentines who suffered more casualties and were mostly conscripts anyway. It should go somewhere, though two images of war memorials may be a bit excessive.

Now, the name Islas Malvinas is an old one and has a correct route in the French Iles Malouines. It is the correct Spanish name and there is no dispute there, it would be used by someone from Spain or the USA or elsewhere. However the name Puerto Argentino was invented in 1982 by the Argentines in the midst of patriotic fervour. It had never been known by that name previously, and it has only ever been used by the Argentines during their short occupation. It would be considered offensive to the islanders. That is mentioned in the article in a NPOV way, but not in the infobox. Dunc|☺ 19:34, 18 September 2005 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Pride 2014

Hi Locoo85. In case you are not aware, there is an upcoming campaign to improve coverage of LGBT-related topics on Wikipedia, culminating with an international edit-a-thon on June 21. See Wiki Loves Pride 2014 for more information. If you are interested, you might consider creating a page for a major city (or cities!) near you, with a list of LGBT-related articles that need to be created or improved. This would be a tremendous help to Wikipedia and coverage of LGBT culture and history. Queering Wikipedia 2021 User Group Working Days: May 14–16

The Wikimedia LGBTQ+ User Group is holding online working days in May. As a member of WikiProject LGBT studies, editing on LGBTQ+ issues or if you identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, come help us set goals, develop our organisation and structures, consider how to respond to issues faced by Queer editors, and plan for the next 12 months.

We will be meeting online for 3 half-days, 14–16 May at 1400–1730 UTC. While our working language is English, we are looking to accommodate users who would prefer to participate in other languages, including translation facilities.
