Fjerritslev Municipality

edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Fjerritslev Municipality, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Fjerritslev. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you. Coppertwig(talk) 23:33, 6 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry: the page you created seems to be a copy of another Wikipedia page. When you do that, you need to say in the edit summary, when you create the page, where the information came from, in order to give credit to the Wikipedian authors under GFDL. Coppertwig(talk) 23:33, 6 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Great! I see you recreated the page. and it now attributes the original page in the edit summary. I'm sorry to have put you to that trouble; I'm just learning how to handle these and could maybe have added attribution to the original version, although it is preferable to have the information in the edit summary right where the article is created (or where material is originally added to a page) where it's much easier to find.
I've also here made a null edit (just adding a space character) to Fjerritslev to indicate that a split was done, according to instructions at Wikipedia:Splitting#Procedure; if you move material from one page to another in future you can do that, too; it's all taken care of for this time. (I didn't know about that either until a couple of days ago.) Thanks! Coppertwig(talk) 19:53, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your message! This is the first time I've handled this particular type of situation, and I was afraid I had messed it up by having the page deleted. It occurred to me later that I could have emailed you a copy of the contents of the page, before it was deleted, to make it easier for you to re-create it. I would have re-created it myself except that I wanted you to get the credit for it. Anyway, I'm glad it's all fixed now! (I'm helping with a backlog at WP:SCV; that's how I got involved.) Speedy deletion of Struer

edit

A tag has been placed on Struer requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:45, 11 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Can you please explain the difference between the "town" of Struer and the Struer Municipality? WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:27, 11 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
one is a town the other a municipality. LocodeMaster (talk) 16:31, 11 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
According to the very link you provided, a municipality is an administrative entity composed of a clearly defined territory and its population and commonly denotes a city, town, or village. Since a municipality can, in fact, be JUST A TOWN, your article on Struer (the town) needs to differentiate it from Struer Municipality in some way. Otherwise, there is no need for a separate article on the town. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:06, 11 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Struer, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Fabrictramp | talk to me 16:09, 11 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Croatian municipalities

edit

I think my complaint is similar (if not the same) as the Speedy deletion of Struer heading above. Croatian municipalities are equivalent to the towns from which they are named. There is no need to include the word "Municipality" in every article title.--Thewanderer (talk) 01:39, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

New York City is a part of New York (state). So it is with Struer and Struer Municipality and with the settlements within the Croatian municipalites. LocodeMaster (talk) 14:28, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

As I come here for almost the same reason as Wanderer, I'd like to suggest you, that if you're intent on having separate articles about Croatian municipalities and settlements therein, you should know that forms "Abc (municipality)" and "Abc, Xoxo County" are preferred to the form "Abc Municipality", as per WP:DAB and established use in articles about Croatia. Otherwise, keep up the good work. Admiral Norton (talk) 20:12, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

With all due respect, you left me no choice but to revert your initial moves, as you didn't put an edit summary, nor explain in any other way how were your moves beneficial to the article. On my first glance through the watchlist, I saw these moves as detrimental to the quality of the articles and I reverted them as such. I did not proceed to revert the moves all the way through the discussion, or introduce new controversial moves, as you did. I am sorry if you feel offended, but in my opinion it is best to let the facts speak for themselves. If you don't believe my statement, you can confirm it in your and my move log. Admiral Norton (talk) 23:04, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for seeing my side of the story. However, I'll be unable to continue the discussion until tomorrow 14:00-18:00 GMT, so please abstain from further moves in the spirit of good faith. Admiral Norton (talk) 23:21, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

M (m) unicipalities

edit

Hi! Yes I also usually insist that they are capitalised, I in fact moved most of the Central American districts to ...District. However in the case of municipalities, this is a matter of greater debate. Normall y I see municipality in lower casing such as has been done with Mexico etc. However they should be consistent I think. One solution might be to change the convention to Municipality of ..... Incidentally we had this discussion not so long ago at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mexico. The Bald One White cat 21:04, 16 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
