Welcome!

edit

Hello, Loivipkhiban, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Notes on Wikipedia style

edit

Hi, I'm BlackcurrantTea. Welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for your additions to Space advertising! Wikipedia has specific standards for article style, and I wanted to point out a few to help you get your editing into top form.

  • There are no links in section headings, whether to other Wikipedia articles or to external sites, as in a reference. See MOS:HEADINGS for more details.
  • Section headings are in sentence case. Normally the first letter of the heading is capitalised (e.g. This is an example), as opposed to title case, in which most words are capitalised (This Is an Example).
  • A link to another article in Wikipedia usually appears only once in an article. See MOS:REPEATLINK.
  • The title in citations means the page title. For your reference to this IAU page, it's IAU Statement on Satellite Constellations. There's documentation at the template's page.
  • The website parameter is the name of the website (this trips up experienced editors): documentation. For your IAU reference, it's International Astronomical Union.

There are more details in the Manual of style. If you have questions, visit the Teahouse or post them here; I'll keep your talk page on my watchlist for a bit. I hope you enjoy editing Wikipedia, and that you'll stick around after your class is over. Happy editing! BlackcurrantTea (talk) 05:10, 30 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
